Now, I have been playing DayZ for about a month now. I've heard about all the super rare guns but I've never heard anyone even mention these. I just wanted to check to see if they were legitimate or not. The first was a sniper rifle. A KSVK: Never seen it before or never seen ammo for it until now. Found in the NW airfield fire house. It wasn't on a natural spawn so I figured someone put it there. The other thing I found I can't remember what the actual name it. It looks like a scorpion. A machine pistol with like a curved wire running along the top? I think it was like a 6na or something.

Another thing about the sniper rifle: When I equipped it, it forced me to put down my pack. But when I put it directly into my pack it's fine. Haven't tried equiping it from my pack yet. Please get back to me on this. Thank you.

As far as dropping your pack, never heard of it happening myself.

ksvk is a hacked weapon - ru_weaponpack - duped in tents on some servers. if you pick up you will lose your backpack. max range 2000m (effectiv 1500m) equal as50 (ksvk is a very quiet weapon) - i hope the next patch reset all tents and fix the dup bug.

If it is not on the Wiki it is not suppose to be in the game.

I advise dumping it if you have it, Admins and the community in general look down on using these weapons and will camp you/ ban you for em.

It is best just to not mess with them.

It's the Sa-61, a Czech submachine gun. Hacked for sure and very weak. The legit PDW is far superior. You'd have a hard time finding ammo for it anyway.

As to the KSVK - a good example why hacked weapons don't make any difference. I keep saying this all the time but here it goes again: all the hackable weapons have exactly the same stats like the legit versions and don't have any add-ons that would make them preferable. They fire the same 5.54/5.56 mm crap and come with the same scopes. When it comes to practicality, there's no difference at all between, let's say, a legit M16A2 ACOG or a hacked M4A1 RCO (or between an AS50/M107 and a KSVK for that matter).

True enough, that rifle is a beast but has some serious downsides as well. Like with any sniper rifle: if you don't hit your target from far enough and he becomes aware of your position and starts running and zig-zagging towards you, using cover wisely, you are seriously screwed.

Here's my opinion on that gun. Which as in all opinions you can take it how you want... First off, its been said over and over that these said "hacked guns" are NOT bannable via battle eye, and that admins CAN NOT (I have server) ban you for USING these types of weapons. So again to all the posters saying drop it before we admins/community ban you. We cant...

Next the ups and downs of that weapon: Which after reading these, you will see the down side WAY out ways the upside.

The 1st and IMO most important. That gun is designed for "true snipers" Meaning they take a gun/ ammo/ MAYBE 1 food and drink. They stay in one spot and dont move till they log. I say this because you can not use it with your pack, as you found out. So having anything extra is useless.

The scope is awesome IF you can figure out the range meter built in. UP

Its super quiet for a sniper rifle, allowing you to snipe in areas a DMR/ AS50 cant. UP

You will rarely if ever find the ammo it uses. Alot of "hacked weapons" can use reg ammo. This gun uses its own type of ammo.. Unless this has recently changed and you can use 107 shells? DOWN

If you are a sniper, you shouldnt need to be up close and near zombie areas anyways, which makes this gun completely useless. DOWN

The DMR is great and so is the AS50 both out way this gun by alot. DOWN

*Now if you wanna look kinda bad ass. Get camo gear, OR hope you stumble on a camp with "solider" gear. Equip a few casings of rounds. Equip 1 water / 1 food / 1 morph (JUST incase zombies do hear ya.. Theyll of course break your legs and bleed ya...ESPECIALLY Myth Buster ADAM Zombie.. F*ck You Myth Buster ADAM Zombie) Get on a bike. Ride through town ringing the bell no1 can hear. Set up and kill ppl.

If you just wanna be smart. Id do what we did.. Tent it and forget you have it, unless youre REALLY bored, then said actions should take place*

I honestly hoped that the KSVK would replace (or compliment) the AS50 and M107. It has a smaller magazine, and is bolt action, plus it's Russian.

I found a silenced KSVK today in a tent. Cool, but completely impractical weapon when you are just starting out a new game. No pack and no supplies which means I had to scrounge around Electro with this mosterous street cannon. I did manage to take a shot at a ghillie suited sniper as we were moving to a position on the same hill. I think he Alt-4ed away. And he was close enough I had to shoot from the hip instead of using the scope so I might as well of had an AK.
