Pretty sure hacked although I did see a thread months ago that said green mountain was like a numbers station that was broadcasting when you are near. Probably bs though. Test it and let us know?

Pretty sure it's hacked in. I've never seen nor heard of anyone getting one, except through hacking. It doesn't do anything anyway.

Hm. Have had it for a few days now got banned from 1 server but its a freakin radio not sure why. I'll go to green mountain and see if it does anything. Doesnt give me an option to do anything when i click on it tho so not sure how or what to do to get broadcast.

ACTUALLLY radios were in the game but got taken out u still can find them on "old" ppl or in old tents which survied a lot of restarts

Radios are currently unable to be used, or even obtained legitimately, it is speculated that players will be able to communicate with each other using them, however this is not confirmed.

Some have stated that when they found a radio on Green Mountain the radio triggers an audio file with music and Morse Code every hour on the hour. This was a myth posted in the form of creepy-pasta on the official DayZ Forum

.......... i posted a thread a while ago about this...... and when i kept asking what it is really for... i got messaged something i would call hate mail but it didnt end well... needless to say that the next day i was attacked by a squad of 7 guys....and sadly lost it :( .. the amount of people that messaged me for that radio was crazy

It is really, really f%%%ing scarey. It is believed they are cold world era spy towers that require a numbers pad. You basically cannot crack these transmitions with out the numbers pad.

There are still many numbers stations operating around the world.

It hasnt made any sounds for me yet.

My friend and I tested it on one we found and had stored in our camp. Our final conclusion is that depending on how close you are to Green Mountain, the louder the transmission will be. If you climb to the highest point in Green Mountain, it is LOUD. In Zelenogorsk, we could still hear it. A little bit north of Balota, it is very faint. Edited August 29, 2012 by killerdude765
