How do I gain humanity?

At the moment I am -1400 with a stupid bandit rag on my head. Ok I admit it I got nerves when other people ran up to me with a hatchet ect. But I have killed a few bandits as well. My question is how to get my humanity down? It seems like it slowly goes down over time. The weird thing is sometimes when I die and respawn I will have 0 humanity but still have a bandit rag on. Then a few minutes later I will have a survivor cap on witch is what I want. But then when I start gaining humanity and log off. When I come back I have -1400 humanity and the bandit rag back.

Dunno about the respawn thing, it's supposed to stay persistent, but you passively gain humanity over time up to 2500, otherwise heal other players and what not.

If you play without killing someone in "selfdefense" for and hour or two, you should get back to positive humanity, I think you'll lose the bandit head at +2000.

I may well be wrong however my understanding is most activity is between the client and the host and any hive updates are batched and less frequent. Maybe your humanity is stored on the hive and the update frequency between it and the host is causing the wierdity that is humanity at the moment.

Myself, I seemed to cap at 5k after I gave a transfusion blood. New skin, new empty alice pack.

Then it reset to 0 and I've earnt 300 from a couple hours of playing and it never updated to 5300.

So either its capped and or there is delay or miss communication updating/calculating your actual humanity number.

Bugs or features?

I think it should be capped to save hero's going psycho and mass murdering ( exploit /feature , same old story).

Pretty sure the bag swap is a bug though .

I lost some beans in that transaction and I was so..so...angry I could have... I could have shot the guy I just healed (but thought better of it in case my bag downgraded). / jokin

I have not read any mention of an ALICE pack being given to high humanity players. If this is so I am happy! Finally there is a reason (however small) to not murder every stranger.
