I've seen players with 20+ days survived...HOW?

Friend of mine survied for 25 days with around 1000 Zombie kills and 20 or close to 30 murders. We were constantly looking for PvP, he had multiple near death situations on which a few of them he Alt+F4'red (I flamed him for that) and we even did some crazy stuff with his character like a whole night where we were looting on the Airfield for 3-4 Hours and just doing a massacre with Zombies (that how he get the 1000 Zombie kills) and a few players.

How he did it? Alt F4 sometimes when he was about to bleed out and we could not help him

and having luck. often we just got picked off from behind while we were camping and he was always the last one who got attacked (he just Alf+f4 or run away) or he barely survied a shootout with like 1000 blood.

How he died? We were looking for a vehicle and went to the North East Airstrip. We were looking for snipers for like 5 min with L85A2 and didn't see any. So he and our buddy went inside the Airstrip and went up the Tower where a Ghilie Sniper was waiting for him and shot him down. :/

I have 30 days. Just because I haven't been playing on hive much. And my last death resulted in respawning on the beach with nothing, not even a flashlight or backpack but my stats and day counter didn't reset.

if you never log back the counter doesn't increase.

play on low pop..maybe always the same server

stay away from everyone

I am currently on 12 days, my longest character so far, me and a friend have been playing together, looted Stary about 3 or 4 times and found 2 crash sites in the area around there, so doing pretty well on the survival side, got everything we need to survive in the wild, just really looking for Gillie suits (we have the normal camo's on) and vehicles now really, gonna hit up the NW airfield for the first time to see what we can get.

I had a character of 24 days and I got teleported a fair few times or glitched back to the coast but never killed by hackers until day24 when i got teleported into the sky and died. I never combat logged, never Alt f4 and lived off the land for food and drink and mainly went onto lo pop servers as anytime I went on a server which was 20+ people that was when I saw hacking going on. One time I got thunderdomed and I quit straight away

Also the glitches have made it alot easier to stay alive, goto starry or nw airfield and hardly anyone there due to the glitches, learn to move around and avoid them and get kitted up.

So it is possible, the downside is so few people you end up going looking for action.

I am alive for almost 50 dayz (check my sig, and hell yeah i am proud of it...), in that time went to Cherno, Electro NWa, Balota NI a...and saved some ppl with broken bones, gave few blood packs, got some vehicles (i actually avoid driving in vehicles, feel very vulnerable) gathered many vehicle parts, build many camps...but yes mostly I played on server with 10-30 players and important is no 3dp (no 3dp is the key for long surviving coz on those servers u have less sniper kiddies...), and i never go to Cherno just to shoot at players, and i never go to any hot spot if i don’t make recon, go around more times to scout and see if anyone is there, checking every bush/tree where someone could be hiding, avoiding shooting at ppl /not showing where i am/ ...and still i have 3 murders and 2 bandit kills (BKs not showing in the debug monitor but they are confirmed)..i shoot only if i cant avoid other players, or when i spot other players and i am in a Inferior position i will do the kill...

When i go through the forest i run from tree to tree, bush to the bush...don’t run like a dog around without checking surroundings’ 360 all the time. On almost 50 dayz only one or two times i have been spotted before i could spot other players, but even than i had some sniper cover and got out only with broken bones and lost cca 5k of blood...

in those 50 DayZ i have seen or followed like 20 groups of 2 and more players that were just running through the woods (once a 3 man group missed mi in the woods between cherno and Balota for 20m and they didn’t see me...I could take them out with my DMR but i am not a killer i am a lover...

But that also means that i need much more time to get from one part of the map to the other...

At the end i think, it is a Mather of decisions, do u wont to kill other players, do u play surviving game or COD...no one cant say that i am not an Active player, in those 50 dayz i think had only 2-3 days that i dint play DayZ, and when i play a play around 3-4 h, weekends even more if i have the time...

Alt+f4: i did once abort when infected broke my legs after i had that awful glitch when u first spawn "dead" and next time u spawn on the coast without any gear not even a backpack, i was pissed off and frustrated without any gear trying to get to my body near Zub Castle, and in one occasion aborted in NWa coz suddenly i got the graphical glitches so i didn’t had a chance to defend myself, was just to stupid way to die...

Hackers: once teleported to thunderdome, disconnected right away, once lost all my gear due hackers but ok, they changed all the gear to AS50 and m4 SD, full ammo load, but lost all my food and medical supplies, once they played "duel" with me through out the woods (damn i got scared this time, running in the woods near Stary and suddenly a car with headlights turned on spawns in front of me...), and once i hacker spawned near me in the forest trying to talk to me but I disconnected..

Yes it is possible, just be patient in the game… and of course u need some luck

Oh yes, I play the exact same way on low pop servers as on high pop server, even if there are only u and just one player on the server there is a possibility that you too will meet somewhere..

Pretty much echoing the sentiments of the majority here. I have survived for quite a long time now, and have done in previous lives. I play on less populated servers (Not empty ones). Once you have a few basic supplies such as; Hatchet, Matches, Hunting Knife, Compass and a Water Bottle or two, then you can pretty much avoid towns and highly populated areas altogether.

Sticking to the wooded areas and avoiding towns will keep you alive. You can fill your water bottle at lakes, and you can kill animals for food. You can also hit the numerous Deer Stands for other decent items, as I have yet to run into another player while looting a Deer Stand.

I had a character survive for 22 days being played for around 2 to 4 hours daily. Its easy once you hit a major city and get kitted. Just head north live off the lakes and game.

The most fun I had in this game was raiding player campsites with 2 buddies and fighting the owners. I know there is no chance to be friendly up there doing what I do. I'm a raider, I steal your weapons and vehicles then blow up the rest. I was eventually taken out by a hacker after finally getting a rangefinder and gps.

You didnt by any chance try that on a bunch of tents on DE 1761 did you? If so maybe your the 3 guys we blew sky high with satchel charges after we set up a "fake" camp. We noticed a few tents had raided so set up some counter measures, safe to say we haven't been raided since.

Simple. Low/No pop servers, idling, combat logging when being chased by aggro'ed zombs, combat logging in combat...

Im alive for 9 days and so far I've been playing in high and low pop servers and I suppose, like many have stated, get the basic and head north, even if ou leave cherno with just a hachet its ok alll you really need is two water bottles, knife, matches and compass or map.

There are some tips thou:

Play in pairs or group

Don't play with kids, they have no idea how to be stealthy and have no patience

Dont go to the airfield or stary during the day

Dont be a hero and shoot ANYONE that is not your friend

BTW: for those saying that gets bored after some time then just go to a high pop server and make a incursion in to the airfield.... best rush ever
