Guerrilla (DayZ) 0 Posted June 11, 2012 Hi everyone, this isn't exactly a cheat report but anyway, whatever. Last night I was playing and I got cold so I ran into a little hut and started a fire, after a while it went out and I was sitting in the darkness planning my next move, all of a sudden the door opened and some guy shot me with the CZ (I think).... I pumped about 8 rounds of M16 bullets into him and I saw him fall back over........... then....... he disappeared completely. After getting over the heart attack he gave me (which probably took 10 mins or so) and bandaging, I realized the guy must have disconnected or something at the last second. I couldn't see his body, I was way too startled to look at who was killed or disconnected when it happened, i remember seeing a few kills and disconnects but i cant be sure of who. I'm almost 99% sure I killed him, However I still have 0 murders and 0 Bandit kills. Now I think he may have disconnected just before he died, thereby robbing me of a murder or bandit kill (and any loot). So in essence he should spawn back in and die right? I'm kind of pissed off about this, I just wanted to know what peoples thoughts were? Just to reiterate, I shot him and I saw him fall and he disappeared, also I didn't hear any footsteps running away or anything. Hopefully there will be something to prevent combat logging (as its called in minecraft). Anyway thanks for reading! :D
aelus 14 Posted June 11, 2012 You shot him to a point where he is unconscious and on the ground bleeding out. All he did was alt-f4 to prevent you from getting the kill and prevent you from receiving any loot. It's lame, I know, but rest with some joy knowing when he logs in he'll bleed out and die. Guerrilla (DayZ) 0 Posted June 11, 2012 Thanks, I thought that's what happened, and yes knowing he will log in and die is some comfort. I seriously nearly did have a heart attack though, I've never played a game and had another player give me a fright like that, I've had cut scenes and other single player games give me a scare or two but last night man that one tops the list. :
LaurenDanger 100 Posted June 11, 2012 People take games far too seriously. Be proud of kicking ass on a bandit, and laugh at how pathetic that player was in trying to escape in such a cheap way. I hope I find an M16 one day...instead of a bandit's bullet in the head. ;)

The reason you're frightened and all is because you do not want to lose all you have scavenged for.For me the way to get rid of that fear was simply to stop targeting the awful grind in cities packed with zombies for days, but kill players consistently with my group. Ever since I spawn on the coast, meet up with my group, head to Stary Sober/NW Airfield and just kill all these unorganized groups for their loot. Hasn't failed yet, you should try it.People take games far too seriously. The silencer makes it so killing those bandits in towns won't draw in every zombie known to man kind.

Guerrilla (DayZ) 0 Posted June 11, 2012 I was just playing, in a building some guy ran in and I shot him. I was sure I could hear some more footsteps, about 2 mins later i was still camping the door and some f*#k appeared before my eyes and fucking shot me in the head. Again I think he knew his friend had died in there, he must have logged, gone to another server run into the room in safety and relogged back into the server i was on. >:| F*#King sure of it, I didn't get a screenshot but I know who it was. Greasymullet 7 Posted June 11, 2012 Unfortunately for the OP the bandit he shot down could have a friend that may come and rescue him and save him from death. Sucks but thus is alpha life.
taffer 4 Posted June 11, 2012 Yea this happens a lot. At first it was confusing; I thought the game was buggy. Now I expect it every time. I'm actually surprised when people DON'T do it. The worst was when a guy spawned right in front of me; scared the crap out of me. I quickly put half a Makarov mag in his head and the rest in his dead corpse. Then when I tried to loot the corpse, it disappeared. I thought I was going to get his mp5 :(DCing is powerful. I saved my own life with it when zombies started killing me in an empty room. Hitting through the walls I guess? I dunno, felt like a cheap death so I did the cheap thing and quit. I know this sounds lame but I think I used it on a player once too. I was running through the woods and just lost most of my health suddenly. I think somebody shot me. I DC'ed and managed to save myself later. Now I can't help but think about the times I was murdered and how easily I could've escaped them :\
FAAmecanic 5 Posted June 11, 2012 I have DC'ed on occasion when Zeds were glitching/lagging through walls and killing me. Didnt feel bad because it was a BS way to die. I hope Rocket and Co. can fix the zeds clipping thru walls before they fix the DC issues.I have NEVER EVER DC'ed when a player had me dead to rights. If I did something stupid then I deserve to die. If I just got overwhelmed I deserve to die....At least thats my 2cents.
