If not, what would you guys think the story behind the Apocalypse is?

There is one, sort of, it is still in developement.

Rocket's brother is a virologist (IIRC), and they are collaborating on a plausible backstory as well as the characteristics of the infection.

Thats cool, it would be nice if they make a background story, then put some easter eggs(items you can find like diaries) in the game that can give the background story more details.

Maybe messages like in CoD zombies
