sausagekingofchicago 4711 Posted August 25, 2012 Uhh.. You can view your controls from the main menu.Normally you can use WASD or arrows in combination with the mouse. It's pretty easy.
Basshead 20 Posted August 25, 2012 If you wanna start with PC gaming try Call of Duty or Battlefield. Simple FPS games you can learn, ARMA is not the place to start if you ask me.
Lysander_of_Sparta 43 Posted August 25, 2012 Go buy cod or bf3 or ghost recon or something. Get used to the controls. THEN play dayz. This game is very harsh to those not well versed I the intricacies of PC gaming.

belesis 14 Posted August 25, 2012 It just takes time to get used to the controls, after a bit of practice you will actually find that you are more accurate with the keyboard and mouse than with a controller. I used to game on console, PS3, PS2, PS1 and even Sega Megadrive, but I switched about 2 years ago to PC and find it much better. I haven't played a game on the playstation since Skyrim came out last year.

Tactical shooters are superior to the mind numbing run and gun nonsense of fast food gaming.
HERCULESJON (DayZ) 2 Posted August 25, 2012 You could get Team fortress 2 for free on steam to practice using PC controls.
Sol (DayZ) 132 Posted August 25, 2012 A gamepad/controller is a lot like a babies toy... a keyboard and mouse are far more difficult to master, but with minimal practice you should be able to perform the basic functions fairly easily. When you want to play with the adults, you have to learn keyboard and mouse. Mind you, a gamepad is a lot nicer for driving and flying then the keyboard... nothing beats analog control for those activities. For aiming though, I laugh at gamepad users who think "it's better" for moving and aiming... I laugh because you look like a retarded seal trying to dance, meanwhile the mouse allows me complete freedom, and super fast tracking.Don't panic... you'll get used to it and wonder how you never understood it before. Like riding a bicycle... once you learn it's easy.~Sol

puppetworx 474 Posted August 25, 2012 I'm pretty sure you can get an XBOX style controller from Microsoft to work with ARMA 2. I don't know if it's a simple thing or if it takes a lot of effort though. I met a guy in game who was using a controller, though he didn't manage particularly well with it. I wouldn't recommend it. Experimenting with TF2 is a good idea mastering the mouse for shooting will take a little while and ARMA has a lot of controls to contend with.

deathstrike616 32 Posted August 25, 2012 Look at http://www.dayzwiki.com/wiki/A_Beginners_GuideAnd yes, I suggest playing another more simple PC game, and get used to the controls of that, before you mess around in ArmA/DayZ. Arma has a very weird and extensive control set.
