Gamma and brightness

I've searched this forum but can't find an answer. Have the change something with the gamma/brightness in the latest patch? The game cause I can't see shit at night and I mean I can only see the sky so I cant play at night anymore and I could earlier by turning up the gamma and brightness a notch so I atleast could see something.

I don't want to hear that I cheat cause I don't but try to play when you cant see anything and I like to play at night

At least rocket said that. Tuning your Gamma + Brightness to see more means bug abusing. It will be fixed in later patches anyway. Search another server with different day time, wait for a full moon or use flares and get shot.

Seems the same to me, if's always been dependent on the weather, cloudy/full moon etc

Rocket is a fucking moron. The engine doesn't render properly at night, turning the brightness and gamma was a necessity driven by that failure.

I've also noticed that brightness and gamma no longer work well at night, which means that Rocket, instead of fixing the myriad of serious, gamebreaking bugs that afflict this mod, took the time out of his busy schedule to make sure that only people with NVGs can see anything but absolute blackness at night. Glad he has his priorities straight. Can't wait for those fucking dogs.

It's dependent on the actual phase of the moon. If it's new moon then it's completely dark ingame :)

When there's no moon or it's cloudy, you should use chem lights... however that's just crazy. You're just asking to get shot if you do that, so I will admit to having a brighter screen then I should have. Even if you took the gamma slider out of the game (which is a horrible idea) people can still use the video cards settings to cheat.

Ok. So take away the realism. A human being is NOT totally blind at night! So this is just stupid! We have nighttime cause yes its more scary but why the hell have it if you cant even play on it. It wasnt like this earlier, you could atleast notice Zeds and houses etc now you can't even if its a clear sky.

I never complain about bugs, I was fully geared with NV and all and when I logged in I respawned by the sea without nothing, not even a flashlight but yes, it's an alpha so I have to take this even though I get pissed but not to be able to see is not a bug so yeah this is the only thing that makes me wanna quit playing DayZ and I loved it earlier.

I hope they don't change that until they've taken a serious look at duping and hackers. Otherwise no one is going to consider playing nights but a small group that enjoy the terror or night.

You're right on about the timing though. Weather, time, and moon phase play a big role in how well the gamma workaround works.

edit: Some admins adjust the time and settings to prevent this workaround.

Go to Big Bend or into the Rockies on a clear night with no moon and then tell me how "stupid" the night is in this game.

Your right about the hacker thing. I meet one yesterday and he destroyed my heli, today one was invisable and killed both me and my brother. We didnt give up, went right into cherno again to loot our corpses and we did. On our way out someone was shooting at us again and it was only me and my brother on the server so hackers and major bugs is the most important thing but to be able to play at night is for me also important but well, it was the moon it seems so I can still play :)
