Disgraced 1123 Posted June 10, 2012 We've all gotten used to the current environment, since the development "cycle", as it were, has slowed down (sure, it's E3, or whatever). The point is, I would urge the "dev team" to take the bull by the horns. There is a thread here for the players to put in their "top 3 fixes" and "top 3 improvements".Rocket, do that. Set your mind to the top three or so big improvements, and top three additions that you think the game needs. Take your time. Make them work exactly like you'd like. I know it's alpha, but legions of us are wanting and waiting... So do it.Put those together, with whomever it is that helps you. Don't release the next version until it's what you want. Until those 3x3 things are working. Call it 2.0. We can wait.Or better yet, figure out what you need to to do to feel that you can call it beta and let's go there.... DrRageQuit 17 Posted June 10, 2012 I think stabilization of the current feature list is more important than adding features for the timebeing. Wont be any point adding features until the desynchronising and crashy server issue is sorted.
gizm0 96 Posted June 10, 2012 why are you so bothered by them taking their time? Wouldn't it be better than we get to beta when they decided they have everything in dayz that they want in dayz?
rocket 16567 Posted June 10, 2012 Think of this as an "operational pause". I need to sit down with everyone involved and come up with a plan that is sustainable, and makes sense.

DrRageQuit 17 Posted June 10, 2012 Think of this as an "operational pause". I need to sit down with everyone involved and come up with a plan that is sustainable' date=' and makes sense.[/quote']Going to assume that this is a "no", but is there going to be any form of stability patch for servers in the coming days? Its really hurting right now with constant sync issues.
reuter 120 Posted June 10, 2012 Maybe rocket should just concentrate on porting this Mod to Arma III and polish it within the new engine. There are some limitations in Arma 2 preventing this mod to work flawless. Period. Consider this as a proof-of-concept until now.It works, it makes a hell lot of fun and apparently there are plenty of people who are willing to support this mod with their money. But with Arma 2 under the hood it will never be sustainable as a standalone version.Release some major updates, let the servers running and leave it be. I really don't see why the developers should continue their work within the outdated Arma 2 engine. The successor is coming this year and I ensure that many people will buy Arma III just for DayZ. Take this as a promise.
mansen 1 Posted June 10, 2012 Well no - it doesn't work Reuter. With the current implemented items and features it isn't quite ready for consumption. Gille suit spawn bugs, login issues, Items despawning (and so on)Until these are fixed it just isn't a viable option to pause development for the current playerbase and move on to Arma III
reuter 120 Posted June 10, 2012 These are the "major updates" i mentioned earlier. But after fixing these issues, they really shouldn't waste their time. I'd rather play a polished version of DayZ based on Arma III instead of playing DayZ until Winter with some major flaws, that could never be solved within Arma II. This means thing's are going to take a very long time. Years even. To be polished and ready for sales. Well, I hope you do move on to the Arma 3 engine and its assets. So that you don't have to build a new game from the ground up and take even longer still! Hehe. Not sure how many people you have working with you or whatever. But if not many...I can't even imagine how long it will actually take. And being tasked with Arma 3 in the process of all this. Meh. I just hope this doesn't get sidelined down the line, but becomes the focus. This e3 thing is what I mean by being sidelined. And once Arma 3 is released there's that as well...sucks you had to be a dev already! HA! I guess time will tell. I can't wait to see what's next! Even if nothing is added, but it becomes more stable/polished. I'd be happy with just that. Hehe.
haviv[3rdid] 57 Posted June 10, 2012 Chernarus is a spooky dreary map. DayZ could've used other maps on ArmA2 with enterable buildings but they wouldn't give the same zombie experience. Scuba diving zombies off the sunny beautiful coast of Greece would also be missing the point.
step0229 8 Posted June 10, 2012 Porting this mod to ARMA3 is going to be easy. Pretty much uses the same coding and scripting.
Eiskrem-Kaiser 54 Posted June 10, 2012 Hopefully it doesn't have the same bugs then :o

ytman18@gmail.com 9 Posted June 11, 2012 Or better yet' date=' figure out what you need to to do to feel that you can call it beta and let's go there....[/quote']A dedicated engine with a custom map and better JiP coding? The whole point of alpha was to test it all. Alpha's are made with little else around the game. You're gonna just have to wait if you want a betaaaz noaw.Personally, I can't wait for a real beta... however, threexthree things I'd see are;Fixes-VON FixInstant DC fixTent FixImprovements-Weight SystemMore RandomnessA 'Squad/Tribe' Function (See PR:ArmA II for a foundation)
dale0404 16 Posted June 11, 2012 This alpha stage is going to last a lot longer than what people seem to think. Don't expect a beta anytime soon.
mansen 1 Posted June 11, 2012 People need to realise that features aren't really being added during betas. Alphas are the "lets go wild and experiment with crazy ideas" stage. Beta is for the long home stretch of balancing these and fixing bugs.If anything people should be thankful that the game is as stable as it is now.
stephansabath@t-online.de 40 Posted June 11, 2012 I'm embarrassed reading posts from people not getting that it´s ALPHA and claim a perfect 100% game, because they payed for ARME II CO.ALPHA, ALPHA, ALPHA ... plz get it!!!
