AS50.... AWS?

Yesterday we killed some bandit at airport in cherno (my friend showed us some nice finnish m4a3 CCO sniping skills headshoting this guy [Cheers Fern!]) and he had this gun.... We actually are happy, because its AWESOME AS50 with thermal scope, dream of tons of people! But this gun is hacked i guess (non obtainable in game i think) and it wouldnt be fair against other snipers at night... What ye think guys?

the AS50TWS was in the game at some point so there are some legit ones floating around. i just got one today killing someone who killed my 2 buddies. and im for sure going to use it.

Depends on the server admin...you never know if someone joining your server with hacked items is the one who hacked them in..so just to be sure *warn/kick*

We had a couple of hackers a few days ago. After looking through the logs we found out that three had hacked items ( M107 TWS / KSVK / MakarovSD*** just to name a few ) and three were involved when someone spawned a helicopter, coincidence? They did recieve a ban and were reported, after that we had no problems with hacking, but i wonder if the report will actually be read.

***Makarov is puny and doesn't throw off the balance that much, as an admin you must judge by yourself.

who cares what server admins think, if they want to be bad admins and ban without proof let them. fuck them il play in one of the other 10,000 servers.. and if you have proof by all means ban them and report to battle eye. however if you dont have proof you have no idea if youre just banning someone who killed a hacker and doesnt know whats in the game.

Nope, M107 TWS was the legit one.

Also, they were removed from database some time after they were taken out of the game.

Everyone is complaining about hackers and that they ruin their game experience. Yet when someone finds a hacked weapon most people tell them to "keep it!", because you can't be banned for it. By using hacked weapons you get part of the problem myself IMHO. Just because something isn't banable by BattleEye doesn't make it legit. Using hacked weapons like .50 cal. TWS gives you a definitive unfair advantage. I had a fight with another clan on my clans homeserver and we wondered how they could spot us so easily in the woods. Truned out two of their members had used the hacked AS-50 TWS... Also the scope is NOT inaccurate. It'S a goddamn sniper rifle after all. I placed headshots at 1.000+ m and bodyshots on 1.200 m easily on targets wiht the AS-50 TWS in ArmA II. DayZ has a very limited viewrange (below 1.000 m) and hitting targets with that weapon becomes totally easy with that weapon.

So well, you might not get banned by using it or a G36SD or whatever else hacked weapon, but it's not in the game for a reason and I think everyone who uses that stuff while knowing it is hacked should be ashamed of himself. Hackers hack stuff in to get an advantage and to have fun on the expense of others. THis IS banable because it can be tracked by BattleEye. The only reason why using hacked weapons is NOT is that you can't tell that because nos cripts had been used picking it up. Yet those who use such stuff do it to get an advantage over others on expense of their fun too. See the similarities?

My group will destroy every hacked weapon and camp we find such stuff in. The less are around, the better for the whole community.

OT: With A.C.E. it's really easy to hit a target with the AWS at more than double the view distance in DayZ. I had a bullet hit 1m in front of a fellow player when he doubted i could actually hit a spot that far with wind ( i asked him if i could shot next to him of course, they didn't even hear the gun anymore ).

Rocket could easily script them in. f.e. if a player uses a weapon not in the legit list it is deleted...perhaps because he doesn't want every second thread be a "server took ny hacked weapon away boohoo" thread.

I have the AS50 TWS & It's damn good. I'm no hacker, I found it in a tent & as to previous comment saying the scopes not that acurate, I've fired 3 shots in anger with 3 kills to it's name. Oh by the way it's name is Sarah Jane :)

Using hacked weapons like .50 cal. TWS gives you a definitive unfair advantage.... So well, you might not get banned by using it or a G36SD or whatever else hacked weapon, but it's not in the game for a reason.

And what's that reason? Weapons like the G36 varieties or AK107s do not give you any advantage. Optics are the same, damage is the same, ammo is the same. The only weapons that could give you a real advantage are the Mk 17/SCAR rifles (silenced and scoped one-shotters) and they are not hackable. There's no "eierlegende Wollmilchsau" among DayZ weapons :)

An AS50 TWS gives you an advantage - if you are a sniper at sniping. In any other situation it has more disadvantages than advantages. Try to score a hit on someone zigzagging in a forest and approaching you at a running speed of 40 km/h :)

Your chances are 50/50. You won't get banned by BattleEye for picking up a hacked/scripted weapon. But if an Admin see's you with it he can ban you from his server and report your name which can lead to a global ban. Chances are pretty damn small but still..
