Loose humanity, risk insanity (game mechanic)

I suggest that if your humanity drops below a certain point and you become sick you risk your character going insane as they slowly sucumb to the zombie plague.

symptoms of insanity could include the following

1) seeing zombies that arent there. [your loosing your mind and percieving zombie threats that simply do not exist. bullets go right through and they only dissapear when they take a swipe at you.]

2) seeing players that arent there. [same as above only with a survivour moddel]

3) seeing inanimate objects as top quality weapons [in your insane state you percieve things like sticks to be sub mechine guns both in the game world and in the inventory. sane players will see you wielding these weapons and saying "bang bang"]

4) vision going all wobbly [your mad and cant think straight let alone see or aim]

5) instead of coughing you scream out for no good reason.

cures for insanity.

1) raise your humanity back up again.

2) a 2nd party has pills and administers the cure while you are at FULLhealth.

why do I think this is a good idea?

because it will force players to think twice about going on a player killing spree. keeping your humanity will become just as important as not starving. because who will want to risk going insane?

edit:

it has been suggested that automatically becoming a bandit will be removed from the next version. therefore why not have it so that players who chose to become bandits do not loose hardly any humanity from killing survivors and survivours do not loose any humanity for killing bandits.

While I think a lot of the community ideas are good, most of them revolve around adding RPG-ish aspects which I'm totally against. I think the skins are enough, because they do not inhibit gameplay.

Exactly, this isn't an RPG-Zombie game. If you want that then wait for WarZ to come out.. that'll be more your style. This is DayZ, where PvP mentality means surviving. I mean, I'm not a dick, I never shoot anyone that has survivor skin or hero, I only shoot at camo, ghilie, and bandit skins. I won't risk my survival to someone trying to hide himself or is obviously a bandit. So listen, You shouldn't punish PvP no matter how much is going on. Plus, the more bandits out there the more targets I have to blast away ;)

being insane as discribed. with you literally hallucinating zombies and players that arent there would be debilitating and cause you to anounce your presence to real zombies uneccisarrily and avoid loot that is in actuallity unprotected.

only crazy people would want to be crazy.

Im not being rude but you guys need to get past the fact that rocket has designed this to have pvp.

Some will be bandits and some will be prey and thats how he wants it.

Neither side should be punished for their choice.

this thread is bad, and op should feel bad. because op just doesnt know application of word insanity. people use this word when they want to describe unusual behavior of minor part of community. since majority of dayz community kill people i can say that people who dont kill are insane.

even the humanity is shit becouse there is no humanity that you can see.

Then I recommend not going to any bandit hot spots or shoot at any hero skins ;)

I really like the idea. Thats because I would like people not to shoot each other on sight, but maybe play together a little bit. Lets say, to enhance the social aspect of the game.

As it is now, DayZ is an antisocial game for antisocial players.

That's what I thought the system up to achieve and what I believe the bandits system was meant to accomplish.
