camel pack

Recommended Posts

Different sizes of camel paks. The smallest would be a 3 canteen. Then a 5... then a 7. Yeah...

no it wouldn't you can wear them over a backpack. military backpacks are even designed with clips and straps to hold them on. you can even wear them under a backpack if you want. they aren't that restrictive.

wall locker in foot locker, foot locker in day pack, day pack in camel pack. you have 5 seconds, why aren't you done!

But pound for pound they would take up the same amount of space as a canteen of equal volume. And since the game doesn't require you to do any animations to drink from a canteen, you might as well have the canteen. This just seems like Videogame PhysicsTM.

ive worn these, they do not compare to canteens as the pack is better. and the way they are worn, one does not feel the weight as would a canteen in the pack. not to mention they take up less room.

I really don't think I could fit on of those over my backpack.

they attach, they don't cover it like a blanket

Excellent idea. Most military personnel carry these, often instead of canteens. Thirst is a pain and this would help.

I'd say only let it work with packs up to the Czech Backpack, not with the ALICE or Coyote packs. That way, it's not just three free inventory slots to fill will canteens, it costs you a little something to have it. I'm looking forward to a backpack tradeoff besides rarity and visibility. If they influenced running speed or stealth or endurance in some way, that would really add depth to what is currently a no-brainer: Get the biggest pack around, wear it all the time. If we could only wear the Czech Vest pouch under a ghillie suit, or had to give up our watter bladder to gain some ammo storage space, or needed to decide whether to wear the pack while we sneak into that hangar, the game would gain a lot.

Anyway, yeah, this is a good idea. I might even want it to go a step further and have the pack's water supply slowly drain while the player's hydration stays at 100%, so instead of three "drinks" that recharge you, it's more like just having a long time before you start getting thirsty, since you're sipping on that thing.

I own a camelbak. They still take up a lot of room and don't hold an incredible amount of water. While hands-free is a useful ability, they should either be a separate pack with a couple of slots storage (like mine at home) or a multi-slot inventory item that replaces the equivalent number of canteens.

Not saying I'm against it, just saying there's no need to exaggerate to make an idea seem more appealing. A camelbak is just an anti-microbial waterskin with a drinking tube coming out of it.
