Why Even Have Bandit Skins?

Instead of bandit skins, why can't they use a flagging system that pretty much ever FFA PvP MMO has? When you put your cross-hair over the survivor different colors represent different states. Red= Murderer Blue= neutral Purple = hostile so you don't lose humanity for defending yourself.

Allow for players to select another player while in their cross-hair and ask if they're friendly, if they don't answer within 15 seconds, it's a free kill.

I just think the whole bandit or survivor is too cut and dry.

Wouldn't a murderer be hostile? And no, because some servers don't have tags, and tags can be very very annoying. I think that there needs to be an visual.

i like this idea expect i think it should be green=neutral, orange=hostile, red=murder, and then possibly blue for friendly (friendly meaning they've bandaged up,giving blood, or morphine to other players.)

now i know a whole lot of people wouldn't agree with the friendly one because it's too easy to think well he could just be getting a blue cross-hair from helping his friends. but isn't that the point you shouldn't trust anyone even if they are blue?

No. Hostile meaning that they are the aggressor. They shot at you without asking if you were a friendly or not. You shouldn't be penalized for shooting someone who shot at you but missed.

No colored tags because I don't want someone just swinging his cursor around and "oh look, there's a guy over there, NOW let me see if I can actually find him."

i think a better question is WHY wouldn't there be bandit skins..

Why would their be bandit skins or anything that's in this stupid thread? In RL you wouldn't have anything to indicate that someone is hostile except for body language and that wouldn't guarantee that the person is a murderer/bandit(just a person wary of a very f'ed up world and not wanting strangers tagging along.) You guys seem to forget this is a survival game, horrible thread, and bandit skins are stupid, their should be no mandatory skins.

No. The current system works just fine. You don't lose humanity for killing a bandit, so if they have the bandit skin kill them. Simple as that.

Putting in this ''friendly'' 15 second system is stupid, and ruins the whole purpose of this being a hardcore, and ruthless game. If you want to find out if someones friendly, go ask them through direct. If you are too hesitant to do that, avoid him entirely.

With a little more thought, this could work.

I just wish we could go back to the old full on bandit skin. So much better than civilian clothes.

there needs to be some sort of way to fix it, and yeah ok i understand the tags as well but what else can we do to solve this issue?

...Stop shooting people. Your bandit skin will disappear in about 2 hours.

Oh, wait...you keep shooting people.

Because you're a bandit.

After the removal of bandit skin, people whined about the removal.

After readding the bandit skin, people want it gone.

I think it was good to re-add it back into the game. Without them, there were no friendlies. DayZ was a PvP deathmatch where no one could meet with anyone because no one could determine who is a friendly character or not. It was all shoot on sight.

It doesn't dumb down the game it all. It makes it more complex. Now people aren't always killing eachother, which was a problem when they took the bandit skins out. Didn't matter if you yelled friendly, because there was no reason to be friendly. You'd just get shot. Now, being friendly has a benefit: you can keep your humanity score high and let other players know you are friendly. And you will really be friendly if you expect to keep that skin.
