Blood Bag (Type O+)

Hopefully the title let's you know what I'm getting at. It is already too easy to get healthy by eating food, I think it should be nerfed a bit, but blood should naturally regenerate slowly.

Each blood bag should have a "type". Blood test kits would also be necessary for blood bags to then be used effectively, and someone with one could potentially get blood from the dead after a firefight.

Oooooh, that is sinister...

Edit: I think the blood types should spawn equally which is not realistic, I just think this should be implemented for authenticity's sake.

When spawning, player's blood types are attributed randomly, but equally.

...no. Getting matches, a fire axe/wood, a survival knife, then finding a cow or something you need to kill is hard. its not EASY. Canned food do not give you much either and there is never enough to get you much blood. So NO. Also why did you post double? Also blood types? Bro don't try to make the game to compacted.

honestly... it's already hard to find a person to help you do the blood transfusion. If that were to happen the hospital would have to be filled with blood.

I think blood should naturally regen slowly, but it'd have to be like VERY slow! I was thinking about something along these lines actually, it would make more sense than just.. "oh, here's some blood, i'll give this to someone regardless of what blood type they are" ;).

To expand on your idea, I was also thinking that people should be able to give themselves blood transfusions, not all players have someone to play with/would trust a stranger to help them out, maybe make the blood transfusion process last a bit longer/make you really fatigued afterwards too?

EDIT: I think the "healing yourself by eating food" system is okay how it is, it is rather hard to get fully equipped to hunt and eat natural animals! Also In response to Gapi182, hospitals already are filled with blood, there must have been like 25 blood bags in the hospital I looted last night!

blood regeneration would be so slow that it has no real impact on actual gameplay.

however, blood tests and different blood groups are a wonderful idea.

Harley, I don't know how you play, but you're avatar says "See a new player, shoot him for a single box of painkillers". Do you not do the same with tools? Getting high tier gear and all the tools is easy if you have at least a pistol and a little patience/skill..

Gapi, it is not hard to find someone to help you do a blood transfusion. Just jump on Teamspeak.

Also, I concur with James when he said,

James I also think you should be able to do transfusions yourself. Perhaps you have to be next to a tree to hang the blood as a drip, and it is less effective too.. I like the idea of having it take longer.

I don't think the spawn chances should be completely realistic. I would just like to see this implemented for authenticity's sake

Yeah, players should spawn with a randomised blood type but all blood type resources should be equal, we don't want to give some players a better chance of finding stuff than others!

in my opinion a redution of spawned bloodbags in medical boxes (atm 8-10 in one box) and reducing the spawnchance for medical boxes(atm 3-5 per hospital) would do it well.

this would make surviving a bit harder and i guess this game should be more hardcore.

btw: implementing this isn't hard and doesn't take long. i looked at the .pbo files...

I like the idea of different bloodtypes and bloodbags. Also blooddonations would be cool and make it increase your humanity. But also decreases your blood. And you can only do it once a month if you keep living. And bloodplasma once in 2 weeks.

Bloodbags would be used after bleeding and bloodplasm used for people with infections (next to antibiotics), long term dehydration (together with NaCl 0.9 bags).

Why would autologous blood donations be good for? Well if your healthy and donate to keep it for yourself, you can regenerate over time and use it afterwards if your somewhere far from a hospital. Or give it to someone else.

Less would be nice.

Speaking of hardcore, perhaps this could be a difficulty setting? As in recruit/normal servers stay with the current system.

blood types wont matter, because in medicine they tend to stack mostly blood of O(I) group with RH-, which can be received by all other blood groups.

Good point, but I thought that was one of the rarest types of blood IRL?

cant say anything about it, but even so, they tend to stack it :) the problem with blood types is that there is 2 option to identify your blood type:

1 you know it when you are spawned.

2 you run a blood test in the hospital(lets pretend you know how to do it, and tool s for it are still in play).

people who will spawn with AB+ will be able to receive ANY blood and some people will try to make use of it:

1 suicide after spawn if blood type at least not AB

2 run to a hospital, run a blood test. go to 1

same goes for people who want to donate blood.

and i dont think that is good addition to the gameplay. however, we can make simplified version of blood types, and make forced rules about blood transfusion like "you can receive ONLY your blood type and RH" which is kinda dumb and defeats whole purpose about knowledge of blood types. so we better be left with universal blood bags

I still think it would be much more authentic if it wasn't 100% certain each blood bag would be usable..

Soldier, since when does LOST blood regenerate in real life? It doesn't. You're asking for something to help you. Try making a suggestion that will actually benefit everyone else a whole, not some personal idea.

Try this: Rocket, fix the artifacting and get your finger out of your ass.

having accurate blood type mechanics would be authentic, but cruel random puts some people to disadvantage, but its still a game, and i think people should be equal at start.

dont say bullshit. if body doesnt regenerate blood, how the fuck its possible to donate blood without harm for the donor and make blood transfusion?.

Your blood regenerates naturally from your bone marrow, how do you think you got your blood in the first place if your body can't produce it naturally in some way xD

Along with that, there is no electricity after the apocalypse to be able to refrigerate and preserve the blood bags, which is absolutely necessary even for short-term.

There's a difference between implementing realistic ideas because they are realistic and implementing realistic ideas because they're good ideas that add to the game-play and make the experience more immersive.

This proposed system is way too complex and would only degrade the experience overall, and doesn't even follow a realistic/authentic path. There is little to zero sterility without electricity, and administering blood tests would be dangerous without sterility.

What would it add? Just another overly complex step in helping people/yourself.

I personally would welcome all the complex steps which move this mod closer towards reality.. Hardcore-ism is, I think, the selling point in DayZ, much like how wind and bullet drop should affect bullets greater over long distances etc.

A generator and power should be required for blood transfusions, but for that, the health system needs re-modelling.

Someone in need of a blood transfusion IRL would not be making it too far if they ran from a gunfight or sprinting through the woods to the nearest friend..

Edit: O RH- only appears in 7 percent of people. If this was to be implemented, obviously it needs to be implemented fairly. In that respect, I would suggest that the official DayZ map has an actual city in it (3 times the size of Elektro and Cherno put together), which contains a blood bank somewhere. Then, blood type is randomly assigned at rates based of real statistics. I way be wishing for too much here.. I grew up in a small country town and even we had a blood bank..

Obviously this could be gamebreaking, but seriously, are these dudes bleeding from both their main arteries at once? It's ridiculous..

I would suggest that rather than blood value, you have something along the lines of "condition". Taking shots would pump the adrenaline, giving you time to fight back, but soon after you may find yourself only able to walk, (at different paces dependent of damage taken) or prone even, to attempt to simulate injuries. Obviously, multiple bullet wounds will still make you lose a lot of blood, and having low blood should stay the same, with passing out and whatnot.. This effect would wear off at a slow but reasonable rate.. (15 minutes for the very worst case scenario?)

I'm sure the dev team can do something a little more creative than just "slap a bandage on that bullet wound mate you're pissing out blood" now that they have are coding at the source.

I don't think this would improve on the game, for it to be realistic it would have to use stats from real life blood types, it could have a system where each blood type could only recive that blood but that isn't any more realistic than the system that is in place.
