Anyone seen the movie "The Road"? ..I thought of a cool concept

Recommended Posts

Watching it at the moment, and it hit me; Day Z (stand alone version ideally) would be cool(er) if it incorporated cannibalism!

Hear me out here; You've got survivors trying to make it through each day, scavenging what ever supplies they can (food, water, meds etc). Then you have the Bandits that rob and/or kill the survivors for their scavenged items. Well then, what happens when say two survivors can't find food and begin to starve? I would imagine the stronger of the two would plant his hatchet in the other one's head, chop him into steaks and feast! And with it, he'll lose his humanity!

Three different character types, different skins, etc.. I think it'll add a cool (and awful) spin on the post apocalyptic scenario.

What do you all think?

I've seen the road, alot of it reminded me of DayZ.

But regardless:

Cannibalism has been discussed to death.

The Road is one of those where you really should read the book. McCarthy is a national treasure, and his writing can't be done justice by even what I considered a pretty good film.

Cannibalism should be included. You'd have to figure out what the benefit would be aside from having some food, but there should be a cost. An interesting cost.

Yeah, the movie is like a series of pictures made to acompany the wealth of poetic narrative and description in the book. I cannot imagine having seen the movie without reading the book, it would seem full of atmosphere but ultimately empty.

As far as cannibalism... I will take it if they vastly reduce military equipment. I prefer something like that once we are down to hitting each other with rocks and sticks.

Why would anyone resort to cannibalism? Until the beans run out and there are no longer any animals to hunt, let alone fish in the sea, this seems like a very unlikely scenario.

In The Road (read the book, havent seen the movie yet) isnt the world a desolate wasteland with no animals or vegetation? I can understand resorting to cannibalism in this instance but not in a land such as Chernarus.

Well cannibalism in the real world has consequences as well.

Kuru disease is an example. At the first stage of Kuru, the "cannibal" starts shaking or shivering, eye sight worsens. Not able to talk normal anymore. In general, failing coordination begins in the feet, legs and hands and slowly moves upward.

Second stage removes the ability to walk without proper help because the muscles twitch constantly. The "cannibal" will start to uncontrollably laugh because of brain failure.

third stage: not able to eat anymore, vomitting and diarhea, coma, death.

--------

This could be incorporated into the game; after eating 2 people, stage 1. after 4 stage 2 and after for example 6; death.

UPON eating infected (more commonly reffered to as Zombies) More extreme symptoms should appear.

For example; gradually losing control over the character, giving it a mind of its own. Suddenly running towards loud noises and other players. Screeching and moaning. until the mind is completely gone and "dead".

as for $26.49 . I doubt in a post soviet state like Chernarus the Dollar would be the actual currency. Even so as you mentioned; the post apocalyptic world would render money worthless. However I do see a future in Baked Beans becoming the new currency.
