Would be nice to be able to play...

Recommended Posts

So I bought ArmA2: Combined Operations today at Steam and was looking forward to play DayZ, but I can't since not a single server is up-to-date.

After actually managing to find a Server with room(I'm really glad that it's so populated, despite it being a PitA to find some servers at some times :)) I can only play for a few seconds.

Then my screen flashes black and says that I'm using 1.6.0.1 and the Server is using 1.6.0.

This is getting very frustrating, I've tried several servers and I get the same thing all the time. The version at the Server Browser isn't even highlighted in red. Am I doing something wrong? :S

Edit: I thought it might be worth to mention how I installed it;

I downloaded the latest BitTorrent, and put the @DayZ folder in ArmA2: OA, I then set a Launch Option through Steam on ArmA 2: OA "-mod=@DayZ"

Not sure if this actually works, but I thought it would :P The Expansion does show up in-game and I can join servers so I assume it worked nicely. Just that I can only play for a few seconds

I had the same problem at first, then I downgraded to 1.6.0, then I couldn't find any 1.6.0 servers...

Haha, just keep looking, they exist. I think you can filter by version too.

Then I assume those that are 1.6.0.1 are the ones that are full 24/7 :P

This is confusing.

because ArmA 2 is also up to version 1.6.0. Double check steam has updated it

I launched ArmA 2 and it said it's version 1.11...

This is why steam is a pain in the balls..

Is there a shortcut to launch ArmA II:CO?

Sounds like it's launching into ArmA II vanilla

When I launch ArmA 2: OA it asks if I'd like to launch CO - which I do.

I managed to get in 1 darned server in like 40 minutes, and they had to restart so I got kicked out.

Seems like 90% of all servers are running 1.6.0, and if you find one that is 1.6.0.1 you either get stuck on Waiting for Server Response or Requesting Character Data(Tried respawn - nothing.)

I give up for now, it's just not possible to find a server at the moment. Pretty much every single server is still on 1.6.0, and those that are on 1.6.0.1 are having issues.

Guess I'll try again later...

That's bull and you know it. I've already set the Filters to DayZ and to hide full servers. The majority of those I get are 1.6.0, even though they say 1.6.0.1 in the Server Browser - once you join, you get the flashing screen saying the server is running 1.6.0. :/

ArmA2:CO is at patch 1.60

DayZ has its own numbering system and it's INTERNAL number is 1.6.0.1

I am running 1.6.0.1 and every server I have joined that says 1.6.0.1 in its description is (shock!) running 1.6.0.1...

Go figure!

Same here, it says they're running 1.6.0.1 but once I get in, it says I need DayZ_Code 1.6.0...

Also, I noticed this ONLY happens on EU Servers. I can play on US Servers without any problems other than 250ms+(Which is unbearable in a game like this :()

I actually had this issue last night as well. I downloaded the updated files 3 times to ensure I got all of them (and then downloaded the torrent and installed it so I KNEW I wasn't missing one of the updated files). Still had the servers telling me I had the wrong version. I got on to 2 I believe and they were laggy so I logged off. Figured they weren't up to date with the new file yet so I gave up and played some Diablo 3.

And yes, i was launching CO, not vanilla. Not sure what I was doing wrong but I'll look at it again tonight.

Ignore steam, acquire a nice launcher.

(SixUpdater is way overkill for normal use, and it's incredibly sluggish)

And yes, Arma II does work without steam running, which is why it's best to not let steam control the updates and simply manhandle it on your own.

I doubt it's related to steam since it complains about DayZ_Code being too new, and not the ArmA 2 version.
