New to the game, had a bad experience.

I'v been stalking the forums for quite awhile now. It seems rather friends and competitive at the same time. More importantly I have been playing DayZ... ALOT.

So I have been playing regularly with a group of about 5 friends on Server LU315 and I have noticed one thing (aside from a large amount of hackers) and that is there is a distinctive amount of Admin abuse. Well I assume it's admin abuse, I am unsure of what 'power' these admins have.

So we are gathering supplies from Elektro when one of our group is shot from a sniper in the hills north of a firestation of some sorts. We see him in the bushes and one of our friends decided to take the shot with his CZ550. He kills the sniper and we head up to his body for loot. We find all this great gear (NV, Rangefinder, ect) and to our shock he had an AS50. Now I have never seen one in game before (truth be told, I only bought Arma 2 for DayZ and have no clue about the actual game) and asked if it was ok if I took it. They agreed and I got my first feel of such a powerful weapon. I checked the scope and saw it had some form of thermal. (I now know it was a hacked item but I didn't at the time) We continue to snipe and gather supplies when I notice a group of players on a small island off the coast of Elektro.

At this point we were fairly geared and decided to check it out. Well.. It was some spectual to see once we got close. The whole island was surrounded in sandbags and barbed wire and up the hill there were tents everywhere. Finally they had a helicopter. It took several tries (most of us died) but we eventually got onto the island and managed to take the chopper. It was great and we all patted ourselves on the back for a job well done. Next thing we know. We got kicked from the game, everyone of us in our group.

We log back into the server and have all spawned along the coast again. I still had my AS50 and luckily just outside Elektro acording to my map. I get there and notice someone in a ghillie suit lying in a shrub on the hill. (I was using thermal) I zero'd in my scope and shot him, killing him outright. My friend who had died looted his body and noticed he had all the best of gear, including a nice SVD Camo which is lifted for himself. Within seconds of this both me and my friend were shot from another guy on the hill. I respawn and decided to exact my revenge, grabbing the nearest gun (Makarov) I ran up the otherside of the hill he was sitting. I got in range and shot at him, he just dissapeared? I look at the chat and the guy was saying I was scripting and was banning me from the server and reporting me for using scripts.

So theres my bad experience with both hackers and admins abusing their powers. Unless I am wrong and they can't spawn all the gear they were using in that case I would apologise for this. However I never scripted and I get banned while the hacker walks free? I find this seriously unfair and unjustified. So I want people to know that the admins on this server DO abuse power and when everything is not going their way, they kick you out. I will be finding a much more friendly server, so can anybody advise me and my friends a nice server?

If you read all this, then you have my thanks. Also I would like to see what experiences you have had with his awesome game (I wish I found it sooner) wether it be good or bad.

It's a bummer a small percentage of the population ruin the mod for such a large amount of people. I just hope you keep a calm head unlike so many others on this forum, and continue to enjoy the mod as much as I do! People do tend to forget we are testers at times ;P

I got banned from a server once that was "Bug Testing" (read: vehicle hoarding) for a period of 3 days.....

I'm the admin of LU315, I haven't been on-line in days (3-4). Could you please confirm that you were kicked and the server wasn't restarted? (No message received) You mentioned that someone said you were scripting, do you have a in-game name for this person?

I'm the only person that has admin privileges/rights and the only people I've kicked was for the following offence; http://dayzmod.com/f...-hacking-group/ and that was days ago.

I got hacked once, and dealt with a shady admin, once.

Since then I have stuck to low-pop servers (5-10 players in my browser), and been very careful of their descriptions (there is a certain degree of "professionalism" with which people can present their servers). Zero issues, and I've been playing lately more than I'd readily admit to my friends. :P

I'm probably more lucky than skillful at avoiding lame servers, but I do think that the low pop ones who seem proud to provide their service seem safer.

I was definetly kicked, I have no proof I was kicked but my friends who were on the server saw the messages on the left hand bottom corner. There was two of them on a large hill next to Elektro. He was using the name Ben (2). I would assume the (2) was because my friend also in the server had the same name. This happened obout an hour ago or so. I would like to say I did not script the weapon into the game but merely used it, which I would like to apologise for.

We have had some good firefights with the players on that server and would like to continue my experience on the server, if this is at all possible.

Finally, I was using the name, "Bear Warrior"

I more keen into the drama ones but sometimes is nice to see people trying to get along and stop been douches...

A lot of people on the internet will fail to accept how inept they actually are. In the last case, the guy was inept at understanding flanks and acting accordingly. And adept at being a pitiful gamer that witlessly jumps on the bandwagon without a shred of rationality.

As much as I don't want to seem like I'm trying to sell the future standalone, because I neither praise nor slam things I've not witnessed, hopefully they'll have some anti-cheat system of worth where the first thing people shout won't be "hacker". It's getting on the level of CoD kiddies calling "hard-scoper" for taking more than a second in your sights (like it's some illegitimate method to begin with). Doesn't matter if you did it, they will blame ANYTHING except themselves.

Hopefully the standalone features official, vanilla, dedicated servers with no community control while also keeping a seperate hive from community servers.

edit: Infact I feel so strongly about that last sentence that it's going in my sig.

Im laughing quite hard right now but not cause of this post. I was on the server and noticed you kicked the guys flying the hacked in chopper that was shooting on me and my friends at Elektro. We were checking it out when I saw someone running up to the chopper. I had an MP5SD I looted from a player in the woods. I instinctively shot at the person and killed them. It popped up saying "'Highlands' was killed" I assume I just killed you and you revenge killed me being Admin? =P

Sorry I killed you, my in-game name is 'Farmer Stuart' right now. =]

I've changed the password and downloaded the logs. I logged into the game to check everything was alright and sure enough a Huey hovering above me knowing exactly where to shoot.

Quick check of the logs showed 3 people with illegal weapons, kicked one and that seemed the be the pilot, Huey crashed and burned. I got shot and killed when I went near the wreckage though :P

Hm, I didn't manage to kill anyone. I didn't know that was you at the chopper ;D I was announcing I was friendly and tried to hide from you, didn't work though ;)
