Why the Hero skin is useless

Recommended Posts

I like having a distinctive skin, but I would rather the bandit mask appear as a traditional bandit bandanna across the face, it would look better than the jihad-head we are stuck with for now.

Gonna keep it short and sweet, like the guides.

I've never been a fan of automatic skin changes. Viewed from the perspective of real life, if you saved someone from a burning building would your shirt turn checkered blue/white?

Aside from my opinion, there is nothing to stop bandits from simply hitting each-other and blood transfusion-ing until the skin is attained.

Discuss. Not flame. Discussions are good. :D

While you do bring up a good point, the humanity loss for a murder is quite high. So maybe these so call pseudo-hero's manage to murder maybe one or two unsuspecting victims, they will quickly be a rocking a turban. If that is how they want to waste their time, well I hope the 1-2 kills are worth it.

Bandits are trying really hard to reintroduce the ambiguity they need to avoid actual PvP. Let me remind people that this is mathematically unlikely and that the people saying this are somewhere between 99% to 100% bandits.

One kill = negative 2500 health + the number of shots it took to kill the person. This means you can have a humanity loss of as high as 6,000 humanity for a single murder.

Bandages are 20 humanity, blood bags are 250 humanity, painkillers are 20 humanity, morphine is 50 humanity.

It costs 2000 humanity to lose your bandit skin from the minimum amount of possible murder. That's 8 blood bags. For every single person you kill you have to find and use anywhere from 8 to 24 blood bags for each murder.

You also get 150 humanity every five to ten minutes. This allows you to kill one person per hour and a half or one person every 45 minutes if you single-shot people and use 4 blood bags each time.

Do you really want to spend 8 blood bags for each newspawn you snipe on the coast? Probably not.

For the love of God...where is this information coming from? You guys are talking like it is in the game already...I haven't seen it...likely because I am in a guille right now but I cant find anything on the forums about this other than this thread out of nowhere...

This just exposes more problems with the system, unless you're a stealth god you're always going to end up being a self-defense bandit.

I hate how the hero skin is a complete overhaul of the basic outfit, whereas bandits get a damn towel wrap on their face.

Too many kill or be killed incidents to justfy this, i'd rather not die than lose my outfit.

i dont see how someone changing to a hero skin is unrealistic considering every surviver has exactly the same clothes thats not exactly realistic either is it?

My experience in 1.7.2.5 thus far: Shot by a survivor skin once. Shot by bandit skins innumerable times. Yet to see anyone in the hero skin. And I am a survivor. I say its working quite well.

Solution to hero skin:

Increase amount of Humanity you gain from blood transfusions

Have it limited so that you can only gain Humanity helping UNIQUE persons (You can't keep blood transfusing the same person)

It will be difficult to exploit with that setup, though I don't know if it's possible to code and keep track of this with the mod.

Medic skin for healing.

Engineer skin for repairing vehicles.

Make them stackable with bandit and hero skins.

Example : bandit + medic = profit

I think you should be given perma ghillie for taking 50% shots above a 700, range

Are you a bandit?

Bandit skins are a free-fire target regardless of how the skin was earned. Yet another reason why the system needs to be removed in the next update.

I only know one way earning the skin: Killing innocent people.

Yes i know it is buggy and you can get the humanity penalty by self defense if the other guy is a bad shooter, but this

a) is neglible, leave him alone if he can't hit you

B) will be fixed and

c) i'll continue to shoot every bandit i see anyways.

I'm very interested in trying the hero skin out. I'm sitting at just over 10k humanity at the moment, but I'm still in my old ghillie and I ditched my civie clothes long ago :|

I'll tell you one thing. No one has EVER thought twice about shooting me because of my hero skin.

People DGAF if you're a hero or not nowadays.

Either way, I'm sticking to it.

Skins don't mean shit to me, never will.

I've been a bandit in an organized group since day one a kill anyone I come across as long as I'm at least north of Mogilevka.

I'm in this game for the intense fire fights that DayZ has to offer, none of this hide from everyone and cuddle in the forest type shit

Make hero skin achieved by being killer of murderers?Someone mentioned a medic skin and that could be from blood transfusions and bandaging.

Person A kills Person B in self defense... becomes bandit...

Person C kills Person A because of a towel...

Person C becomes a hero!

FUCK YEAH!

It's not really useful for a number of other reasons. Just because someone has a hero skin doesn't mean they won't do something stupid to get you killed - and that's even assuming that they mean you no harm.
