jordy@sigux.com 44 Posted August 13, 2012 The point for hackers and other trolls are fucking threads like this, it's not like it's going to solve the issue by crying and complaining about it, dude.
Thorne (DayZ) 10 Posted August 13, 2012 Bear in mind: Most forum veterans here deny a hacking problem exists. Why? Probably because most of them have a vested interest in rocket ignoring the problem.
Hetstaine 10852 Posted August 13, 2012 Bear in mind: Most forum veterans here deny a hacking problem exists. Why? Probably because most of them have a vested interest in rocket ignoring the problem. Minus Beanz. Pretty dam sure everyone ..vet as you say- or noob knows that hacking is the number 1 issue with the mod and has been for a while. Most also know that it is not really going to be adressed until standalone so it is what it is atm. A hacker complaints sub forum would be a nice change though.
Fred West 1 Posted August 13, 2012 Sigh.Just came back to DayZ about a week ago. My character was ages old, was nicely decked out with GPS and whatnot, I've always been playing (too) carefully. Said week ago I convinced two friends to buy Arma2 CO to play DayZ with me, and lo and behold, no more than 2 hours on our third server (DE 322) some funbag teleported the entire server population under his helicopter, who promptly fell to our deaths. From what I gather these hacker threads pop up like shrooms after rain, but I'm gonna ask here anyway - what's the point? I kinda get "hacking" in gear for yourself, I mean, it completely ruins the point of the game, but at least you only get somewhat of an advantage over other players. Instakilling an entire server on the other hand, is it fun? I don't see the entertainment value. Isn't it more rewarding getting a kill if it's well earned?Preaching to the choir I'm sure, but then again, forums are made for whining.
skillet (DayZ) 39 Posted August 13, 2012 I have yet seen a hacker. J/K :) typical response..I remember the first time and only time I got killed by a hacker. I was new and finally got my high end military gear. Not from killing a hacker, going to duped tents or server hoping. I had a good five minutes to enjoy the gear until I got flung in the air and died. It helped me realize it's not about the gear but the experiences we have which make this game special. DarkRaven123 602 Posted August 13, 2012 I assume it's to come here and drink the tears of all the people complaining on the forum.Actually, almost exclusively that. They, for some reason, like to ruin people's DayZ.For teh Lulz, because they are grown up and mature n shit.Another large "go-to" reason is boredom.Lack of features to keep you occupied after 300 hours. libertine 351 Posted August 14, 2012 (edited) Hacking is about power. Why do people pull the legs off of cockroaches? Because they can.On the other hand, most people eventually stop abusing their powers when they get older. It is because they start to imagine what it is like to be the other person or animal. Some people don't do this to begin with because they have parents who don't yell "stop that now!" and instead calmly explain what the consequences of their actions are. There is no harm in complaining about it on the forums and it might educate hackers on what happens on the other end of the internet line. Ignorance is the root of all evil. Edited August 14, 2012 by Thane
Buube 0 Posted August 14, 2012 Just had a hacker spawn in front of me in the tents of stary sobor. Unlucky bastard was just facing the wrong way and I shot half a clip into his back... After I stopped laughing I checked his bag to find a G36 sd in it... Sad individuals.

Brookhouse 0 Posted August 14, 2012 (edited) First time that we got attacked by a hacker on low pop server. Only 8 people were on the server + 5 of us. He killed our entire group with an M4 CCO SD and destroyed 2 cars (which needed a long time to repair). Edited August 14, 2012 by Brookhouse
Grobbley 0 Posted August 14, 2012 There is no harm in complaining about it on the forums and it might educate hackers on what happens on the other end of the internet line. Ignorance is the root of all evil.It isn't going to happen, though. The people who hack and grief others do it because they know what it feels like on the other end. They know they have control over someone else to some degree, and they get off on it. It's just another form of trolling. It isn't a lack of knowledge that is the issue. EquinoxBNB 0 Posted August 14, 2012 Hacking is definitely the number one problem with this mod right now. I'm still a bit confused as to how Rocket plans to release a stand alone game by the end of the year, when DayZ is in terribly rough shape right now.
ptk (DayZ) 178 Posted August 14, 2012 had some guy called the midnight elektro police come by last night and one shot myself and a buddy. couldn't see him and it sounded like an axe hit.. no bleed out either just dead lol.

bazbake 456 Posted August 14, 2012 had some guy called the midnight elektro police come by last night and one shot myself and a buddy. couldn't see him and it sounded like an axe hit.. no bleed out either just dead lol. This happened to me twice in a half hour period on two servers. As for the empathy thing and doing it because other people are doing it. It's a little like the banditry system we had in play for a while. People committed banditry because it was convenient and other people did it to them. After a while, hacking will be the only way anyone is having fun in this game. I'm calling it now, if the standalone alpha isn't released in the next three weeks, this game will be 80% hackers. When there's anonymity and no consequences, you can expect a race to the bottom. Trubs (DayZ) 0 Posted August 14, 2012 Honestly, the hacking issue can't be a very big problem. Me and several of my friends have been playing consistently for about 3 months now and not one of us have encountered a hacker.

ptk (DayZ) 178 Posted August 14, 2012 "I'm not poor, ergo, poverty doesn't exist."lol checkmate!yea Trubbs, consider yourself lucky if you've never encountered a hacker yet. don't know what servers you play on but when I'm gearing up I play on low-pop servers, then when I'm geared, I play on high-pop servers and I've almost always encountered a hacker. Not like where did I get shot from hackers but thunderdome, shooting cows and invisible axe kills hackers. I'd say 8-10 times so far. I don't mind that much though really, I like to sneak around and loot mostly, but maybe that's because I can never actually get to whatever people are calling end game these days.
