Why would you remove weapons because of insane inflation?

Makes no sense to me.

Even if there were a complete database wipe, dupers and scripters would bring it back to massive inflation.

um some people love to snipe.... just think of it this way... u go to afganistan and ur in the military,, u see someone runnin across the way would u rather have some shitty sniper that doesnt do anything or a 50 cal that takes them out.. and if no 1 shot sniper then how u gonna take out the heli? 50 cal sniper is a heli downer stop qq more pew pew.. if u hate being sniped go get a sniper. period

Yes because soldiers use 50 caliber weapons as anti-personnel equipment...are you that stupid? Sure it's happened but that's not what you WANT to bring to fight other people. It's a beast to lug around and not very good at keeping you hidden.

In a zombie apocalypse I don't expect I'll be shooting down helis, I'll be running like fuck to save my skin, generally hiding in a building and laying low until it's gone.

Everyone should be scared of DayZ snipers. It's something that you don't get in any other game (including even ArmA2 pvp since those matches are never long enough to allow snipers to get into position)

It would make this game extremely boring. RL SIM

DayZ stands out because it is hard and unforgiving. The second the devs give in to carebares and CoD Kiddies the game is over. You don't like being one hit killed? Stop running across an open field at mid day. Stop running at a sniper nest down the street giving "covering fire" with a pistol. And STOP trying to change the game to suite your shitty play style!

Yes but its suppose to be a Zombie Survival Mod. You are not going to be killing zombies with a 50 Cal sniper. The M24 and DMR atleast require a bit of skill to get the headshot.

Lol. It's not a Z survival mod. You can LITERALLY IGNORE the zombies.

It's PVP, without that, you could count the #players on 1 hand.

All you need to do to kill some1 who has an as50 is run up sniper hill with a makarov.

I say give it a try and see how it really works out and if heli's really do become unstoppable.

For me the issue is pretty cut and dry. DayZ is either a post apocalyptic survival SIM or it's not.

Please explain to me, in the context of a SIM, where you would foresee guys lugging around 30 plus pound sniper rifles with an assault rifle, along with a pistol, mags for all weapons, NVG, range finder, ect... just to kill people for shits and giggles? The answer is you wouldn't, simple as that. You can not police how people use weapons in the game, the only thing you can do is take it away from them for the sake of this game being considered a SIM.

If this isn't a SIM, then by all means leave them in game and allow the unrealistic carnage to continue and flourish.

One thing I just thought of that could be an equalizer, or perhaps compromise is a better word, is the introduction of a real stamina system. Carrying around a .50 cal sniper rifle and all the accoutrements should severely limit the mobility of the player. Carrying all that gear should limit how fast you can run, how long you can run for without taking a break, and increase the consumption of food and especially water. Maybe even to the point that a fully kitted out player would no longer have the speed to avoid a Zombie. Maybe even increase the likely hood of taking nasty falls when rapidly descending a hill. Make the player pay a severe price for lugging around all that crap and you will see less people using them.

The reason there are so many .50 sniper rifles on each server is because there are more cheaters on DayZ than legitimate players. It takes about 4 minutes to write up or download your own BattleEye scripting bypass, thus allowing you to spawn whatever you want into the game.

Nothing at all wrong with guns that are 1-hit-kills. I would love to see them again in the standalone version of DayZ coupled with responsive, polished hitboxes on players and zombies.

I think each sniper rifles should have their own 1 hit kill range to the body. Like 200 m for Lee Enfield, 500 m for DMR and M24, 800 m for SVD Camo, and 1200 m for M107 and AS50. This might give all players the advantage with all kind of sniper rifles. All headshots are instant kills of course.

I have no objections to the .50 cals being removed from the game though I don't necessarily think it's needed. If vehicles become more prevalent in later versions they could be re-added for anti-material purposes.

Until duping has been dealt with I think all of the high grade weaponry has to go. At the very least the anti-materiel rifles. If they were incredibly rare I could tolerate keeping them. But as it is there are camps full of them on most servers I've been to. I still think the game could do with a hell of a lot less military equipment and a lot more civilian hunting weapons with the odd AK here and there.

In real life, 99 percent of the guns in this game will kill you with one shot to the upper body/torso.

I'd like top tier to be more rare, I think it's mostly down to getting duping under control.

You don't get rid of fully working features because of a bug. You just fix the bugs.

Why not also make it take 2 hours to cut down a tree and harvest wood?

If all you're after is the most realistic shooting people experience I think I have found a hobby that's better suited to your interests: http://www.goarmy.co...s-and-jobs.html

Personally, I play DayZ because it's fun, specifically because I enjoy PvP in DayZ.

However there is nothing fun about sniping in it's current state, it isn't fun to get sniped, it isn't fun killing snipers, and it sure as hell isn't fun to snipe stationary noobs in electro.

I'm tired of the headshot COD/hollywood fantasy.

Real poll title: "Do you use a sniper rifle"

why?

No, hopefully the game can stop players from duplicating them AND the ammo of course. Weapon should be rare, the ammo should be VERY RARE.

NO NO NO NO. They just need to be a little more rare and harder to get.

why not temp remove them to see how things play out? it wouldn't be a bad things to experiment on since it is a hot topic.

Whining bi*ches, jesus. Remove this, nerf that. I played this mod for more than 250 hours and I've been 1 shot killed maybe 4-5 times. Most people cant aim anyway. Its .50 CAL...you aint gonna survive that. It is annoying when you get killed in cherno-elektro by some asshole camper with AS50 but what the hell..its not end of the world is it. If you're careful enough, you aint gonna get sniped easily. Thank god rocket aint gonna nerf anything..like he said. DayZ is unbalanced and it will stay that way. Stop crying people...And learn to play. And it wouldnt matter if they were deleted, coz most of the .50 cals in this game are hacked. Dont you get it? I just really hope rocket aint listening to people like you OP coz then dayZ standalone would be no excitement at all
