To play DayZ, you need ArmA II and ArmA II: Operation Arrowhead. However, you can play with the free version of ArmA II, so you only need to buy Operation Arrowhead, which is about 20 US dollars.

Of course you can! It's a free mod! Just pop in your original Arma CO disk and away you go!

Sometimes people who do live streams will do arma2 giveaways. Deagan, for example, just gave away over 10 copies. You can try and get it on some of that.
