[Legion] Admins abusing power on Dallas servers.

Just wanted to give a heads up that there's a [Legion] admin on Dallas#2 right now that just kicked me for banditry.

Long story short, go killed up north by my friend on accident. Ended up in Elektrovodsk(sp?), and proceded to scav around for a map/compass to meet up with my friend somewhere.

I walk around the city for a good 15minutes, then I hear gunfire all around. I start exploring around, and ended up killing 5 survivors in search of a map (only found a hunting knife & compass :

Finally, I get to the main school in Elektro (HQ maybe?), and I find [Legion] Chaos, and we have an awesome pistol firefight that ended in both of us dieing. He said "no seriously, I hate you" lol.

As I'm respawning it says "You have been kicked".

There was NO BattleEye message, and my friend asked after and they said it was BE (which it wasn't).

[Legion] Chaos was the logged in admin at the time (so I'm told by a couple other people btw).

Just wanted to know what's up.

That's why I avoid the legion server whenever possible. They'll also kick you as soon as you get in so their clan can get a slot. Spend 10 minutes trying to get in? Get kicked 5 seconds later.

Bring it up with Legion and see if they can't sort it out as an interior problem. I'm sure they don't want someone like that representing them.

But yea, had two witnesses see me get kicked after killing Chaos & saying he srsly hated me :(. Not to mention I had killed a couple of Legion players about 5minutes before him. Then, they tried to blame it on BattleEye which tells you & everyone else when someone is kicked by BE, and it didn't for me or my two other mates on at the time.

Pretty shady to try and cover up an Admin kick by blaming a BE kick to say the least :/!

Either way, this is more for [Legion']'s benefit as they apparently need to cull some heads on their end. I saw something similar happen 2 days ago when a Bandit killed 3 of their guys in a row, and then he was disconnected & came back asking why he was kicked to no answer :|.

Just saying, Admin Abuse isn't tolerated by Rocket (as far as I'm aware).

I've found the legion guys great to deal with, although my dealing have been limited. I love their spirit of organization that is for sure.

I am sure that if you take the issue up with them, they will deal with it.

I'll give a general reply that my intention is that there is no tolerance for admin abuse, hence why there are no admin tools in game. Sometimes you may see, on the rare occasion, folks knocking about in soldier uniforms. Its either me or one of a couple of other people doing some testing. I often end up knocking about with just a Makarov as I tend to die quite a lot, so even I don't end up with great kit. We HAVE restarted/kicked people due to testing, or for example to provide a slot for the russian interviewers a while back.

We'll always work through issues with any hoster, but where those issues can't be resolved (such as poor server performance, passwording the server, etc...) we turn off their connection to HIVE. This is too provide the best service we can so that people will, eventually, know that getting on a DayZ server is a standard experience.

As I said above, perhaps its a coincidence, BattlEye still needs some configuration tweaks and it has been kicking for plenty of false positives.

We're getting about an email every five minutes at the moment. Sam or Matt will try and get back to you. Unfortunately, I barely have time to hop on teamspeak with them for the moment. The easiest thing for all hosters is to email us and list any issues there - as Matt and Sam are, like me, completely overwhelmed at the moment.

I don't enjoy posting things like this :-/, and I would have just come back in to start playing some more but then the server crashed :s. Then I heard on US2 that some people had similar issues with Dallas servers & admin issues kicking for no reason. So I don't know what's up for sure, just letting you [Legion] guys know.

I also don't have a thing to say if it was anything to do with you Chaos. I just know that after you said you hated me (<3) I got kicked and had multiple people say it wasn't BE that kicked me =(. I also only got the "You have been kicked" popup and had to sit and server select waiting for a spot before the crash :exclamation:.

The name "Legion" is not in reference to anonymous. It's a reference to the Alpha Legion, from the Warhammer 40k universe. Think of other possibilities before you toss about insults please.

I know we get a lot of hate. I feel that very little of it is deserved, and the hate that is, stems from misunderstandings like this one. The kicking thing is generally not an issue with a player in particular. The admins, the owners of the server, are making space for Legion members. We realize that we should be making a bit more of an effort to inform players of why they are being kicked, so they have a chance to get to a safe place. This is a courtesy that we don't neccessarily have to observe. Do you pay for the server? Have you donated to Legion? Are you a member? Then don't expect to have a reserved slot, or feel entitled to a slot.

I'm sure if we heard the other side of the story it would be a bit more clear, but I'm sure Chaos wouldn't kick you because you killed him. He's an active duty Marine infantryman. He keeps a more level head than that. We'll have a talk tonight when most of our members are on and sort this out, if he doesn't post here himself.

Just to clear a few other things up, we have only passworded our server once. That was for an hour so that we could work with the devs to test out a few server tweaks. In that hour we enjoyed dying a ton to each other and accomplished nothing. No, we didn't all end up with M107s and NVGs. We didn't farm super high level gear or patch up a huey. We actually did a little Makarov deathmatch when the server wasn't shitting itself from lag.

We as a clan are dedicated to the success of this community. We want this mod to succeed. That being said, we play together, and we play the game. Don't get butthurt if we travel in groups and shoot bandits or players that don't respond to FoF questions. Don't be surprised if you kill one of us and we swarm all over your last known location and kill you.

If you have some hate for us, keep it to yourself, or take it up with us locally. Join the server and talk to us or shoot us a PM. If it's something really important we might invite you to our private TS server and talk it out there.

Since this thread is convenient, I'll post here with a question/request. Could you legion folks keep people from using pre-recorded soundclips over the side VOIP? There's some fellow with a name I cannot remember, but he's 1lt. Something or another. I believe he's associated with you guys. He frequently plays clips like the classic LEROY JEEENKINS (oh the faggotry) and a clip from some movie where some ghetto black man is in a police force. I think some actual Legion members have done it as well, and I do remember some of your guys using common internet retorts like "u mad" when asked to stop. I play a lot in your servers, not trying to throw hatred out.

I believe that the sound bytes playing is a function of arma2 itself. He wasn't broadcasting over side chat. I think you can turn off the sound byte broadcasting in a cfg file. I'll ask the player to stop, and see if one of our admins will edit the cfg the next time the server goes down.

I don't understand why anyone is complaining. It's their server, they bought it, they should be able to play on it however they want. I think most of you forgot that people can own and operate servers. I blame the modern industry trend of peer hosting and publisher owned servers for this obscene train of thought.

If an admin is breaking their own server rules then take it up with the owners, on their own forum or via some other means, not this board.

I enjoy your mod and I agree that we shouldn't support people who abuse their admin positions, but you shouldn't be policing how people run their servers either. I know you didn't mean it that way, that you were addressing stress issues, but your response can be misconstrued as saying "if hosts don't play our way, we can't reconcile our differences, then they're gone." If they are causing damage or unnecessary load to your HIVE servers then cut 'em off, but anything beyond that is not your job. Again, much love and respect.

Legion openly kicks people (sometimes resulting in death) to make room for clan mates. Been going on for days. Now an admin kicking because he was killed by someone else seems to be crossing the line, of course, he said she said.
