Warden/peace keeper/ Militia idea

Recommended Posts

A nice addition to the game would be a "good" skin for doo-gooders. Might save a few lives if friendly units easier can understand that you really are friendly (to other survivors and non-hostile bandits atleast) and would propably help the peace-keeping effort. +10 000 for a "good" skin perhaps? Since I have yet to go below 2500 in humanity I haven't had the opportunity to actually see how easy it would be to gain humanity (through helping other players and killing bandits that is).

I love the idea even though I get the feeling that the mods current state will make this hard at the moment. I would love to join a server, ask if there is any fellow peace-keeping players to join and help the new players (and others) out. I would actually like to join in some groups that's specialised on scavenging loot around the map and bringing it back to some kind of base. Take one or two cars and drive away to the NW airfield and loot, take the stuff back to base and supply the other players that have a bit greater need of good equipment while maintaining law and order in Cherno and Elektro for example.

TL,DR: I love the idea and will look into this more as the development of this mod progresses.

I hate PKers with a passion' date=' and I sympathize with your goals... especially with people like 'The Killing Joke' around (complete control freaks)...[/quote']

I'm sorry, but I'm a bit confused. What part of my whole "don't be branded" idea becomes "TKJ's a control freak"? And if you review your own post, my thoughts on the matter would have saved ALL of your players being targeted for their skin type.

You may not like the way I present my message, sir, but maybe you need to review it. I'm not going around shooting bandits. I'm not going around shooting survivors. But I'll argue for the ability to do so, and the ability to not be discriminated against, just because of your skin type.

I may be rabid when I post, but I assure you, it's because I'm a rabid fan of this game. I want to see it succeed, and it is my belief that by removing the whole morality system, it will do better than if you do not.

I do also thank you for your original post, as it does help to prove my point.

@ Anders190

I 100% agree with having a "good guy" skin. From my experience, the humanity requirement of 10,000 isn't bad. It is difficult to achieve but it will greatly reward those who achieve it and prove to others that they are people of good conscience; they would be less likely to be murdered by overly-cautious individuals. People would start having a realistic goal instead of giving up and becoming bandits so quickly.

It's funny how you mentioned "scavenging group" and "2 cars" because that's actually what we have right now! :) We just found the 2 UAZ's and fixed them up today and picked up some guys at the NW airfield.

We'd like to patrol the coastal cities, but for now we're training in military simulator and arming up until the 30th deadline when the clan is fully operational.

Again, if anyone wants to join Overwatch, just add either me, Pro_Nub or Oreo.

And here's a picture of some of us with the cars below ;)

I have zero murders and am indeed still fighting the good fight. My thoughts on PVP here, if you're interested: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=588&pid=24414#pid24414 It's good to know you don't just kill on sight. I have been edging closer and closer to not giving a fuck.

I've got 6 good friends who play, plus another 4 from the UK we met in game who may also be interested. We will discuss and I'll let one of the admins know in the next few days if I/we want to join up. Seems like a smart thing to do and will give the game a bit more direction. However, Diablo 3 just released and I don't expect to see a few of them back for a while.

I am currently trying to start up an organisation that focuses on giving medical aid to survivors. Came up with CEMA, or Chernarus Emergency Medical Aid (alternatively Chernarus Evacuation & Medical Aid, once I get a chopper running) and their main goal is to help people who are in trouble, either with medical attention or escaping a hostile environment. I've spent all my time in DayZ so far as a friendly survivor and I refuse to shoot anyone unless they are threatening me. As a result I have died A LOT but I still prefer to play the game like this. Often when I tell people of my intentions to help anyone I meet I get a lot of sarcasm and ridicule from the bulk of the server, but there are still people who are keen to team up and help other survivors.

Basically, if you have a CEMA tag in your name, it means you are dedicated to helping other survivors, and you will mainly carry medical supplies such as blood bags, bandage epipens, painkillers and morphine, as well as some food rations for people who are starving.

I understand that if you announce that you are there to help people, bandits will think "Sweet, free loot." I still think this is a more interesting way to play, even if it is a lot more difficult. I've already died and started over many times now and I have come to accept that dying regularly is a normal part of this game and trying again is always a possibility.

This is merely an idea, I am in no way organised yet, but I eventually hope to occupy a certain part of the map on the ANZ2 server, set up barbed wire and tents, and have a working chopper that can fly recon missions, and pick up more supplies from hospitals. The chopper would also be used to evacuate survivors from designated locations, marked on the map and given a time limit.

I'm not exactly recruiting new members, just want to discuss the idea of a group that is dedicated to helping people survive rather than killing. Kind of like the Medic compared to the Heavy.

Love the idea of a peacekeeper faction. Right up my alley. Definitely interested; I sent you a PM, SomeoneMustGetHurt.

Also, as an idea, peacekeeper clans should keep two lists, regarding bandits. One for "safe" ones that don't pose a threat, or at least have been encountered without having to be put down, and another for "psychos" that have proven that they're okay with being a bandit, and should be considered "shoot on sight" for members. A bit of external bookkeeping for the players in the clan, sure, but it adds a bit of RP to it, and a clan leader could easily keep the list on Dropbox, and let their members know when they update it. Task forces in law enforcement keep tabs on both current and potential threats, and it seems to work a good portion of the time, so why not in DayZ?

@Izanagi

The blacklist idea seems like a good idea. We can maybe add that in our website or on the steam group page sometime.

Indeed, it's been in our list for quite some time but we are still working on the website and such so we'll implement it later. For now, we're keeping a mental note of hardcore bandits, though the list is so small, since no one typically wants to attack groups of 10 of us. We can remember all 3 of their names at the top of our head :p

@theboneranger Sounds good, if you guys feel like joining at any time, feel free to add me on Steam.

Having groups of survivors be like private militias is something that I've been wanting for quite some time. I was thinking there would a rather large group of survivors that would be loosely connected, like the Loners from S.T.A.L.K.E.R; Shadow of Chernobyl. There really wouldn't be any organization, just people who knew that they could trust one another and stick together for a bit before parting ways.

I've also wanted to play the role of a traveling merchant/do gooder. Giving supplies to the needy and exchanging rarer supplies with clans/militias like tool boxes, jerry cans, and other things.
