I don't even understand why you start with one? It makes the other lower tier packs redundant.

Remove it? Yes or no?

EDIT:

Some interesting points made about making vest pouch a higher spawn rate and other lower tier backpacks, along with making Alicepack a lower spawn rate.

EDIT2:

Ticket has been made for DEVs attention to the thread. Im sure this is in alot of peoples interests to be included into the mod.

EDIT3:

People have suggested we start with vest as starter pack?

I think it's a good idea, but the whole system needs to be revamped in my opinion.

It's a draw, and I currently like starting with a backpack. What I don't know is why there are pouches. They are worse than the normal.

The less we start with the better the feeling when you do get anything, so I'm a yes for this. Make the current starting bag, and the 6-slot pouch more common to make up for it. At the moment that 6 pouch is completely useless, and only gets used if you misclick, and the game glitches your old bag into oblivion.

Yes. Remove it.

Highen the spawn for the coyote pack and vest higher and the spawn for alice lower. Right now you find an alice pack allmost instant after spawn.

Yeah, absolutely. More realistic and more rewarding when you find stuff.

I think we should spawn with whatever the lowest-tier backpack is. There's a few which just seem completely useless because the backpack we spawn with is already fairly decent. Also, like other people have said, make the ALICE pack and other high-tier backpacks harder to find because just sprinting into a super marking, aborting and rejoining is pretty much an ALICE pack in 5 minutes.

You start in a Zombie apocalypse without any warning. You didn't have time to grab some painkillers a bag and a bandage.

Even so i guess you can stick with a bandage still but painkillers should be gone. And pack. And i agree with the lowering Alicepack spawn rate and increasing the others. Personally i think the Czech pack or what ever its called is the coolest looking one with the camo.

Keep bandage but lose painkillers? personally I always have painkillers on my person, but not bandages.

/minor nitpick

... having said that, I carry those painkillers in my backpack... FFFFFFUUU

But you have no backpack thus means no painkillers :|

start with nothing, maybe just some random stuff as in real life: a watch, (stuff you have in your pockets) some matches or a lighter..

Totally ok with removing starter packs. When I started, my friends and I didn't even know how to use our packs, and lived for quite a while not actually using them. So its not exactly a requirement like flashlight/bandage/painkillers are.

I think starting out should be even harsher http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/30498-start-us-off-with-nothing-please/ , also by reducing the amount of inventory we have as well http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/30663-cut-down-inventory-space/ and it should eventually be linked to the clothing you wear http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/66549-full-clothing-thread-compilation/ (also check inventory suggestion in the link in my sig).

As far as backpacks go, i'dd prefer something like this:

1. toolbelt bag(s) - 3 slots (see related thread regarding toolbelt in my sig)

2. Broken Czech Vest - 4 slots *can be repaired with needle & thread

3. Czech Vest - 6 slots

4. Broken Cayote Patroll - 6 slots *can be repaired with needle & thread

5. Coyote Patroll pack - 8 slots

5. Severly broken Assault pack - 8 slots *can be repaired with needle & thread BUT only to 10 slots.

6. Broken Assault pack - 10 slots *can be repaired with needle & thread

7. Assault pack - 12 slots

8. Severly Broken Czech Backpack - 12 slots *can be repaired with needle & thread BUT only to 14 slots.

9. Broken Czech backpack - 14 slots *can be repaired with needle & thread

10. Czech Backpack - 16 slots

11. Severly broken Alice pack - 16 slots *can be repaired with needle & thread BUT only to 18 slots.

12. Broken Alice pack - 18 slots *can be repaired with needle & thread

13. Alice pack - 20 slots

14. Severly broken Coyote Backpack - 20 slots *can be repaired with needle & thread BUT only to 22 slots.

15. broken Coyote Backpack - 22 slots *can be repaired with needle & thread

16. Coyote Backpack - 24 slots

And i will assume you can fill in the commen/rareness of these yourself :)

I am totally for removing them, its extremely easy to find a pack already so there is absolutely no reason giving players a cushion with a beginning back pack. I think once the inventory gets revamped and has a major overhaul we will see more specialty packs, like not just a backpack you will have chances to get larger secondary ammo packs, main ammo packs, etc..

By the time I have something to put into my pack I have already upgraded it so sure get rid of the starter pack.

I'd agree on replacing basic backpack with the cz vest.I'm not so sure about not being to store anything at all as you would be able to carry stuff around Irl.

What I dislike / not really happy with is the store space for high/est tier backpacks. I like to carry 2 morphine injectors, 2 pain killers and reserve ammo for secondary, 2 backup patches and lot more..and find it annoying that every single (sec or primary) takes a slot. I imagine bandage or epi doesn't need to take a whole slot..Moar space needed

You people have some retard thinking. And what give no backpack at start? If in first market you can find ALICE backpack anyway? Let people have this small backpacks, so they dont must rush right away into Cherno or Elektro like lemings under camper rifles.

But I can agree that could be change to Czech Vest Pouch, but require this also lower drop rate of ALICE, now its just to easy find it. Sometimes I see two in market.

i totally agree with this guy. You should start with a backpack, but it must be the lowest teir. in all honesty if a zombie outbreak happened you wouldnt be prepared, but grabing something to carry things would be one of the first things you would grab if youwas at home or work or anywhere
