Grass causing lag?

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

Recently, i spawned into a server where grass wouldn't load for me (upon logging into the server later, the grass spawned that time). My frames have been ransacked, along with others, and without grass, my frames increased from ~15 to ~35. I was wondering if there was anyway to remove grass from the game without removing trees/bushes (i heard of the hack that snipers were doing to remove all plantation. i want to make it clear that i want to remove grass, and only grass, for the sole purpose of playability).

Think anyone could help me out? I've already done everything in my power to raise my fps.

Thanks,

Zach

Video options... This question seemed just a tad obvious.

I've already turned terrain down as far as it can go... I want to *completely* remove grass.

There is no legit way to disable grass, it would also be cheating sort of as you could see people easily. Grass shouldn't lag your game, what CPU/GPU do you have?

I have 2 Intel Duo Cores (E7300 @ 2.66GHz) and a nVidia Geforce 8400 GS.

Anything you alter outside of your video options should be considered an exploit and I advise heavily on NOT doing it. Not at risk of being found out and having measures taken against you, but really just to maintain your legitimacy as a player.

Be a good person, you'll feel better winning with the odds against you.

Thats the thing, normally, i would never change any of the files. However, the game is so choppy now, i have trouble even killing zombies. I'm desperate!

Both your CPU and GPU are over 5 years old I think. I'd recommend upgrading both, seriously. The E7 you have is either 6-7 years old and it won't be able to run many of the newer games well. The GPU isn't even being sold anymore I think. Get an nVidia GTX 550 ti.

8400GS is too weak. Your CPU is fine (for now), clock speed is usually more important than cores for certain games, usually first person games.

If you're playing modern-day shooters, you'll want at LEAST something in the GTX 260/ HD6770 range. You can take a look at this chart for examples. For Nvidia, I'd recommend a GTX 550/560 with a smaller budget, and for ATI I'd recommend the HD 6870 or the HD 6950 (I personally use this one).

Hello there

FYI grass on/of is traditionally a serverside option, i dont know if DAYZ servers are forced to have it on.

Back in the day there were several mods which lowered the complexity of grass for those with less powerful machines.

You'll be able to lower the detail to no grass in SP but in MP it's the server that chooses viewdistance, grass etc.

You're best off looking for or requesting info on a server with grass off.

Thanks for everything, guys.

As for video cards, i was looking into the 550 ti, however i have no idea whether it would be physically compatible with my current computer. I heard that there was specific sizes and ports needed for each graphics card.

Also, i heard that even people with 550 ti's were still having trouble running the game and receiving decent frames.

I'll either be getting a 550 ti or a 560 ti with my new pc, however, i was hoping for a quick fix in the meantime.
