When will we see DayZ standalone?

Lets bear in mind game dev takes quite a long time, not to mention most games miss their scheduled release dates by quite far.

Arma 3 (the engine it will be on) won't be out until late 2013.

So we can probably expect DayZ to be early 2014?

Rocket has said multiple times he cant see why the game can be out this year, but its taking the Minecraft approach and will be available first as a low price alpha version. (Not saying I belive him but its good to hope :)

arma 3 is coming out late this year from what ive heard, the dayz devs already have the engine and have been using it i dont know where you got your facts but judging by rocket never getting his target date on patches i would say the standalone wont happen til 2013

Considering:

The Arma 3 engine is already available for him to work on, he already ported DayZ to it like 2 months ago to see if it would work and it did.

He isn't alone anymore but has a whole team now. And they are gonna release it as soon as it'll be in alpha state just like the mod.

Saying it WON'T be this year is very pessimistic.

I think early 2013 is a safe bet but if he's wanting to release as a Minecraft blueprint, then we could hopefully see it by the end of the year...

... which I would love, because getting those little updates every so often would be like playing the game again for the first time. Mini-christmas every patch...
