okay, so i just started..

hey, my names Renzo, i just bought arma 2 (dayz).

i'm trying to play without guides to make it more fun.

I hop into the game, first 15 minutes is me figuring out how to go third person.. (lol)

then i spot a house and swim over to it, i try to be cautious but apparantly i'm not very good at it, i got spotted by the first zombie around and get hit two or three times before i could escape, then i died because i didn't know how to bandage. (lol again) second spawn, veeeery similar,

many people say dayz is easy, but from my perspective, it's a pretty hard game.

what was your first experience like?

My first experience was running through Cherno on a high population server trying to find friends...

Instead I found some bullets in my skull.

I now play on low population servers.

found lots of ammo boxes lots of dead ppl on the beach and one box named us army suplies full of 100 of every item went to electro and got 7 kills before being mass murdered

It's a long time ago.

I logged in at night, pitch black with no moon and blinding rainshowers. Before I even got off the beach I heard zombies moaning somewhere close in the dark. So I retreated to the beach and thought, what the hell am I going to do? I decided to sneak along the coastline, untill I came to a small settlement with a boat bridge, which I went out on to, hoping for the moon to rise or the rain to stop. After a few minutes of doing nothing but being scared, I heard another player shooting inside the settlement and not long after that, he spotted me and killed me.

Then I logged off and went wtf am I gonna do?

I'll try again tomorrow, hoping for a few hours of daylight.

Its pretty easy after you're first couple hours getting used to everything. I spawned pretty near a heli on my first life on Dayz, I went totaly mental when I saw it because my friend told me they were quite rare. Sadly enough the bastard that put it there broke it somehow. I went up a hill near the most west lighthouse and waited for my friends to pick me up. We went to Cherno got some loot and eventualy died while going north.

Back when i started you actually spawned with a gun. Not knowing what to do i ran around until i found the construction site near Cherno, climbed the crane for a better view and got sniped,

"Awesome!" i thought.

Been hooked ever since.

I spent about 4 hours crawling along the ground trying to not agro zombies and looking for a gun, never found one until about my 3rd life and was then killed about 2 minutes later by a hacker with an axe.

Welcome to DayZ they said. It's an alpha of a mod they said. You can tool up in 10 minutes from spawning they said.

Renzo, I don't think you'll lose that hard-core vibe you're looking for if you check out the control schematics in the options menu.

Props to you for doin' it old school, though. That's what I did. No online maps, no guides. It took me 2 weeks to figure out the wonky flashlight, lol. I still haven't figured out the range finding part of sniper rifles. I still haven't found a vehicle spawn to attempt a repair. So much to do, so much bumbling and dying to be had!
