zancie 26 Posted August 8, 2012 So, I'm not neccesarily a bandit. But I am a thief.I have the worst of luck looting places legitimately so, I've decided to just go along the edge of the map, taking from the unlucky suckers that have there camp in my path. I'm just wondering, Are there more camps near the VERY edge of the map, or just along a general area near the edge.I'm going along the north edge, from the west to east. Also, would it be better to go on a high population server, even though the chance of having a hacker is more prominent, or would low pop servers have just as many camps? Bubba Jones 30 Posted August 8, 2012 Most people know better than to put their camps right at the edges of the map now - except those people that still think they can hide their camps right on the West border around 1km North of the coast...
wordplayuk@gmail.com 101 Posted August 8, 2012 Go on old servers, one that has been established for a while. Then search the other way around head NE to NW then south. Not quite on the edge, generally where ever there are low trees. Check Pobeda and west of Zelengorsk and NE forest above Berezino.
Brudagon (DayZ) 64 Posted August 8, 2012 What you do is you run the circumference of the entire map and if you don't find a camp, switch servers and do it again.
gummywyrm 41 Posted August 8, 2012 I do this a lot too. Large hills at the VERY edge of the map is popular, but usually they are somewhere in the tree-line closest to the edge. A great spot to check is the very NE corner of the map, and north of Olsha. A lot of people hide stuff there.Obviously, the higher populated servers have more camps, but also more hackers and ALT-F4 kids.
zancie 26 Posted August 9, 2012 Sorry for not replying but thank you all, I usually look for patches of trees that are all low and close together. And I will look around NE I heard those were popular campgrounds, but I like the western side of the map, and without a vehicle I'm not to keen on trekking for an hour. So older servers are your best bet.
paney 23 Posted August 9, 2012 (edited) Without a vehicle I'm not to keen on trekking for an hour.Go and loot Cherno and deer stands then. I've spend many hours looking for camps. It pays back later. Now I have their locations written down, and anytime I spawn I just need to find a map, set a direction and run for my new gear.Edit: After you don't need to loot to gear up you would not enjoy the game so much anymore. It's a warning. Think carefully if it's worth it. For me there is nothing else left except killing other player or looking for vehicles which i usually steal as well as the spots where people hide them are pretty predictable and destroy after fuel tank is empty as I play solo game and its too dangerous to drive a car around. zancie 26 Posted August 9, 2012 OK, hate to post again, but I'm just wondering, how do I find an "old" server?
HeHeHe 38 Posted August 9, 2012 OK, hate to post again, but I'm just wondering, how do I find an "old" server?Basically a 5 digit code i think. If a server has "49845" then its so old, that i dont think you can join it. Another way is to just type 1.7.1.6 or something, just as an example.
zancie 26 Posted August 9, 2012 Another problem is I updated to 95777 of the beta. That and I've been using dayZ commander. So I'll try to join a server with those old digits.I'm gonna try to find one if that doesn't work, I will just go to a high pop server, and hope I don't end up flying like a stone.
