While it is a nice weapon, I dont see the point of adding a new assault rifle. Especially one that isnt even in the arma 2 (afaik). Id like to see more low tech weaponary in DayZ.

And to get technical the F1 FAMAS does not accept STANAG magazines. The G2 version is the newer, NATO Compliment model but it has not reached nation wide distribution with the majority of French Forces still utilizing the flawed F1.

Overall I'd still prefer to carry a Kalashnikov... In DayZ as well as IRL apocalypse.

No, i'm not french. Served in the Foreign Legion. The Famas is flawed ?!! Hahaha And You'd better take the AK over it ? Out of the two the AK is the flawed one. It's got a max accurate range of 250m with a 7.62 while the famas does 300m with a smaller 5.56mm, which can be up to 400m with a M4A1 or whatever variation of that system. One can only imagine how lax the tolerance is in the AK barrel if if wobbles all over the place at 250m.

AK47 Has an effective AUTO range at 300M and an effective range at 500M, and the sights extend all the way to 800M (With reasonable accuracy, providing low humidity/crosswind) good sir!

Furthermore, the AK47 has fewer mechanical parts, and those that are active, are generally bigger, to allow for easier repair and matinence.

The unit cost of a single FAMAS for millitary and government use is around the 2700 Euro mark, where as the AK is so low cost you can't actully buy one in a single unit (Outside of western civilisation).

So before you think you're an expert and trying to abuse everyone in a forum that doesn't have the same views as you, just remember, people out there, can, and will. Call your bullshit.

Personally I think we need to have more pistols in the game, rather than assault rifles and other assorted rifles. I do like the idea of a Famas it is a good gun, I'd just prefer to get more handguns first, before anything else is implemented.

It just so happens that I spent yesterday afternoon with a good friend and ex French soldier who spent many years in N & W Africa.

The failing point of the AK from a military perspective was the diversity calibres that come with the series.

He said, concerning the AK (excuse my French) : "Il ya de fortes chances que votre voisin ne possède pas le même calibre que vous".

From a military point of veiw, this is very good news.

Anyhow, I believe that the plan for the future is to include more arms/weapons that will fall into the common or garden category.

So rare or exotic weapons will remain, rare and exotic.

I'd rather see the ability to create custom encampments (underground and buildings above, etc) and the ability to customize vehicles (upgrade your civilian offroad pickup truck white to one with a mounted m249 saw, etc) before adding in bullpup guns and all the work (reload anims, etc) that has to come with them.

Feels unecessary. There already are plenty 5.56x45 guns already. France it's that close to Chernarus anyway. I would rather see the devs work on larger and more immersive ideas. Maybe the community could make the gun. There is definitely talented people in the community who could make the weapon.
