Gogster (DayZ) 626 Posted August 8, 2012 I'm tired.Tired of reading bitchy posts from all the kids on these forums bemoaning admins who want to kick or ban people off their servers to try and make them more secure.Tired of people waving the rules around as if it were some doctrine handed down from godIf some server admin locks his server so he can scoot up to NW airfield to grab a rifle or bigger backpack DOES THAT RUIN YOUR ENTIRE GAME? If you get kicked or banned off a server, does that stop you going to a different one to play?Yes there are arsehole admins but it's not as if they're emptying your bank account or sleeping with your mother.Let's have some f'ing perspective.Does anyone have any idea whatsoever what goes into setting up a server and administering it (aside from people who do obviously)? Checking servers logs, adding bans, restarting, ensuring tools are all up to date?Wooder's on his hols at the moment (mate of mine who we have our servers with) but I'm going to chat with him when he gets back about the effort of keeping them up/against reward? I'm sure he won't miss saving money on providing public servers. The servers are not free. He provides public servers for the community and all I see are a bunch of ungrateful shits.Just fucking tired.

Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted August 8, 2012 Agreed. I did try your server a couple of times with some friends (119) but there was game breaking lag on it every time. Not sure what the issue was, I've not had it on any other server.

I can't really comment on 118 as I don't play on it.

I would just ignore the whiners. Some people seem to make a hobby out of thinking they're entitled to something when it's free.

ZedsDeadBaby 2287 Posted August 8, 2012 So basically he works hard and pays money, so he should get to ignore the rules?Yeah, sorry. No. Can't get on board with that line of reasoning.Being a good admin is about more than maintaining a stable server and paying the bills; it's about not using your position to gain an advantage over or abuse people. Dove 1 Posted August 8, 2012 I think this guy is just bemoaning about how most people use this forum to complain about how A) bans, B) hackers, or C) bugs are ruining the game. Apparently he must deal with those kind of things too often since he is a server administrator. It is true, many posts and threads deal with the above three options, but I also see how people lump in the good administrators with the bad administrators when complaining and making abuse threads. Painting with a broad brush can be such a hassle and a curse...I agree, it would be better if there was no complaining. A complaint-less world would be very uplifting, but as things are, there are rules and there will be rule breakers, both on the administration side of the server and the player side of the server. Identifying which side was at fault makes it difficult. Now, I am done on my musing...
