2 Noob Tips: How to shake zombies and how to find veichles

Recommended Posts

Hello beginners of Dayz.

I just wanted to share 2 tips to all of you who maybe haven't heard of them before.

How to shake zombies the easy way:

Most of you know how to shake zombies by going up a steep hill or by running inside a building. But what if you have wandered off north, say close to Stary and Novo Sobor? There are no mountains there.

You will need to find some trees, about 10 of them. The way to shake zombies is to exploit their line of sight. Simply run up to a tree, run to either side and then quickly get the tree behind you so its between you and the zombies chasing you. Repeat this step for about 3-4 more trees up ahead.

NOTE: This is not a fool proof technique, though it is very EASY. It works for me at least in 8 of 10 cases.

How to find veichles:

When you join a server and go looking for cars at their spawn places you probably wont find any. Thats because people have been there before you, snatched the veichle and saved it somewhere else. Unfair you think, but there is an easy way to snatch them back. It will take you some time and some food and drink but it will be worth it.

You have to set off on a journey northwards. Go into a server with very little players when you do this. Its often clans and other groups of people who have worked out their system to go and snatch all the veichles in the map and store them in their camp. Most of the clans have their camps in the northern part of the map, above civilization. You just have to go there and you dont have to search for long, you will find a camp eventually. Then all your time will be worth it since there are probably tents with weapons and other supplies nearby.

So to all of you who are wondering why there are no vecihles, they are hidden mostly in the northern hills above the map. Look there and you will surley find something.

I hope these tips are of value to you all and I wish you good luck!

I got the tip that you could also go behind the trees and then quickly "z" to shake them. It worked about 50/50 for me, but that was only when I got chased by 1-3 zombies. I doubt a hoard of them would fall for it.

Hmm, I never tried that one actually. Mostly because it sounds very dangerous since you risk being mauled while in prone.xD

I was thinking the same thing.

If he means "quickly hit Z to go prone", then I would say that you'd be mauled 50 out of 50 times.

If he means "quickly run in a Z pattern" then I would say it has no bearing on survival, unless you stick some trees between you again.

Your vehicle tips seem sound, but that northern area is huge. I wouldn't know where to start, and if a camp is guarded, then... that would end the fun real quick. But I guess as they say, no risk::no reward.

A clear way to explain the "break line of sight" method might be like this:

Find a line of pine trees with thick green bows low to the ground.

Keeping the zombies behind you, weave between the row of trees.

If the tree line is long enough, you should be able to lose the zombies fairly quickly.

I meant as hitting the "z" button.

And yes, It is dangerous. I don't suggest people doing it. However it has worked for me.
