Knifes & Nades

One shot?...

How about equipping a knife, risking your life by getting up close and personal with a zombie, human, and slashing it a few times HOPING he/it will go down?

Sounds more realistic doesn't?

... and it would be nice if the Z/Human would scream as you slash him to attract attention too.

.

.

.

But seriously, I'd pay good money to ditch the Makarov for a pick axe... that MIGHT break with usage! :D

1. Sneak up behind target

2. Open Gear

3. Right Click on Combat Knife

4. Choose either Stab or Slit Throat

5. Profit, DayZ style!

:P

A knife against a zombie would be worthless.

You would stab it, it would maybe look at you funny like "Really? R U STUPID?! I R ZOMBO DUDE, me feel no pain!" and then eat you.

There is melee in the game' date=' but zombies use it.

Partly true - Zombies don't actually use what we'd perceive as melee. their attack is more of an AoE because actual melee weapong fighting is not built into the ARMA2 engine.

So' date=' we are all combat trained specialists waking up on a beach in zombie land? no...

I don't have any experience with knife killing but I only know two scenarios where one-shotting knife kills occur; In the movies and people who have years of combat training.

An odd argument considering how every survivor is a trained professional with any gun in the game. :dodgy:

And yet a single shot in the arm or leg (a foot even) with a high powered pistol will make them roll over instantly. So yeah - a knife sounds perfectly legit.

This guy has right.

I love how people think you can only slash knifes. Even though some well aimed jabs you can disable limbs. You can even penetrate the skull with a large enough hunting knife, or a job to the eye penetrate to the brain.

Enough with the cod argument. Like there are no melee weapons in real life.

I am pretty sure sure Rocket has expressed interest it.

Everything is / should be based on some basic balance. Guns are better than melee, outside of VERY specific circumstances... or when out of ammo and you have no choice and are just swinging for the fences.

It just makes sense that I can use the hatchet in inventory for something if I HAVE to or am perfectly positioned for stealth. Sure, one-shot-kill if headshot, why not (especially if from behind)? Otherwise, suffer the wrath of whatever it was you just pissed off.

I'm sure rocket did if memory servers me...

I like the idea of a knife for stealth kill's for example let's take the the knife system in Battlefield 3

when you go up behind an enemy player you stab them in the chest or under the chin which would kill them instantly or if there prone flip them over an stab them in the chest i could see something of similar to B3 being put into DayZ

It wouldn't work so well on zombies taking into account how fast they run so it could only really be used on players it would be definitely handy if you killed a player that way it saves you much unneeded aggro if say you were to kill a player with a gun and you have 10 to 20 zombies after you

So in those aspect it would work just no zombies as you can't sneak up on them easily or at all in my experience :S

prone invisibility to z's is something to consider for positioning. Even crouching and corner-leaning around a building corner and seeing a z facing the other way? Sure, make the stealth-move and attempt the silent, melee kill.

You need to aim with a gun's sights. With knife, you don't need any skill because there's no Kali slashing simulation (why didn't Nintendo come up with THAT for the Wii???)

I think you'll find that aiming a gun in a stressed situation at a specific body part or at something running towards you screaming and hopping isn't exactly easy. Not to mention recoil. Not to mention long distance shooting. *cough* thinkbeforeyoumakearetort *cough*
