Was Harry a cheater?

First off, this is not a complaint about hacking/cheating/scripting. I simply want to know if I was a victim of cheating, or was I legit killed by Harrys friend.

Story time....

I haven't played in over a week, so I haven't been witness to all the hacking stuff that's going on, but I follow the forums so I'm not completely in the dark about it. Anyway, I was running north'ish of Berezino in a forest, I couldn't tell you an exact position, I was just running in a random direction because I was bored. There were less than 10 people on the server, it was expert difficulty, I believe US 1040.

So anyway, running along in the forest in the middle of the night with my NVGs, and all of a sudden I hear a burst of automatic gunfire right next to me. I was beside to a large rock formation so I kept jogging and put that between me and the shooter, and then waited with my sights up, he came around the rocks and we exchanged some rounds, he died, I had broken leg, very low blood, and all that good stuff.

I didn't notice a kill message, so I put some more into him for good measure even though I heard the flies after he fell. Patched up my wound, shot up some morphine and then ate a couple steaks to regain a little blood, since I was in the in danger of passing out. So, then I walked over to his corpse hoping he would have some food, inspected the body, "Harry" was his name, but before I could even look through all his stuff, shots right behind me, maybe a few feet away, I quickly closed the menu and tried to turn but it was too late and I was dead on the ground.

I wasn't upset, or mad, I was actually kind of relieved that I could now start all over and have fun finding stuff again. And I was still pumping with adrenaline from the encounter. All in all I enjoyed the death.

When I respawned and ran to a barn that was right in front of me, I started hearing strange noises, sounded like a crossbow or something, maybe a distant gunshot, but then I started hearing footsteps really close. I looked around, called out over direct chat, and couldn't help but notice some bear traps outside the building I was in. I didn't think much of it, I came in another door so I figured I lucked out not stepping on them. Then more footsteps, all around, like someone was running circles around the building, so I moved to another door and saw even more bear traps, I looked at a couple and they seemed to be opening and closing on their own. And by that time there was a LOT of them, spammed all around the building. And then someone on direct says "I see youuuuuuu" I just laugh and tell him to look out for the bear traps, then ask if he was the one I just killed, no answer, more footsteps, so I just disconnected and found another server.

First thing that makes me suspect foul play was the fact that I was engaged point blank in the middle of a forest by two people, one with the same weapon I was carrying, on a server with hardly anyone playing.

Second thing, no kill message.

Third, no murder or bandit kill in my debug.

Fourth, no footsteps, just gunshots when I died. If Harry had a friend sitting next to us during the firefight, why did he wait about a minute after harry died before engaging me?

Fifth, on a server with less than 10 people, I was obviously trolled by a hacker minutes after spawning.

It seems like I killed the hacker, and he was pissed off so he teleported back to me and finished me off. Then, unhappy with just that, he teleported to me and tried to get my to step on bear traps.

What do you guys think? I just want to educate myself so I can avoid situations like this in the future. If I wasn't so pumped with adrenaline I might have just aborted when I saw no kill or kill message, because thinking back, that was a huge red flag.

I am Harry, we seen you running through the woods and when I tried to engage you you murdered me as you said. My mate shot you in the back as you walked right up to the person you shot without looking around you. Unsure what happened in that barn though, I respawned in Solichny after you murdered me.

I will say well played, you outsmarted and killed me. Unfortunately for you, you didn't check your surroundings and their was another 4 people with me.

Also, I am the host of US 1040 and you can always pop in TeamSpeak if you have a issue on our server swift-gaming.hiddencorner.org

Also with no kill messages, this is because we do not have them enabled. We are a 100% expert server.

i'd guess the admin gave them some extra ''powers''. I was in a shop and 4 people came in. I had my lee einfield ready. I shoot one guy in his head. Nothing happens. I shoot him about 3 more times and kill him. Then his friends come closer. I shoot 2 in their heads and nothing happens. Then, they kill me.

Thanks for the reply. And I wasn't aware that you could turn off the kill messages, I will certainly be back to your server, since that's one of the suggestions in my signature :D

Admin's can't do that since they can't run any script in DayZ.

I've shot a full M4 mag into a guy once and he died like 5 seconds after I stopped firing, must be a delay of some sort.

I'm going to go ahead and dig into the logs to see if those traps were spawned in or not. But it surely wasn't me. I'd like to congratulate you on killing me (I was on 35 days)

Fungy was the only one that wasnt with us, if you could maybe upload the video just so I have a tiny bit to go on. I will be going through the server logs at some point tonight but I have dinner plans with my Fiancee and I'm leaving after I submit this.
