So I am assuming this mod is pretty much dead then right?

Recommended Posts

So with the announcement of Dayz standalone, (assuming it is going to be built off the NEW Arma Engine) can we pretty much assume the Dayz MOD is dead.

I KNOW before anyone starts spouting it, that Rocket said "Development and updates of the mod will continue in parallel with the development of the game," but I also know that isn't really possible.

Eventually, and probably soon, we will find out that there will be features in the standalone game that wont be in the mod, because, well, its just a mod.

So the mod will just be the red headed stepchild to the real standalone game.

This is fine I guess, I play on buying the standalone when it is available. No biggie, but I do get this feeling that them promising to keep the mod updated might be a little bit of a white lie/fib.

I mean when it comes down to it do you;

A) Work on the thing that is going to make you money or,

B) Work on a free mod that is fundamentally broken, limited by the constraints of an old engine, and the fact that its just a mod.

We might see a few patches here and there for the mod, but I am sure that will dry up real quick.

I'll be playing Arma2 and expansions if the mod dies in the water...

IMO,He should get to a stable point with the mod, and stop adding features. Work on any remaining bugs and focus the rest of his time on a standalone.

Anyway, if you can buy and get early access to the standalone Alpha , anyone who really enjoys DayZ will already be playing it.

This.

add hero-bandit morph

stop additions, fix stability and bugs.

Anything else would be minor balancing

I don't think it is really going to die yet.. just the state of the mod right now is terrible. Not the mod itself, but the people joining servers.

The scripting shit is just getting old. Then we have duping like crazy and people removing the assets of the game like trees and building models to help them be assholes. Thankfully there is a solution for the removal of trees and such. But the rest of the problems are just flat out obvious. Hard to have fun anymore when every hour or 2.. someone mass kills a server you are on, or teleports you, or whatever.

Well, people buying Arma 2 just to play Dayz are not that bright.

Arma 2 has a lot of other good mods and what not. Heck the regular game is fun too.

Powell,

Yeah, a lot of folks are still joining the Dayz hype, but I think they will be sadly disappointed. Plus how many of them are folks buying multiple keys because the either got banned or are running private hives.

Well you can already tell that standalone is affecting the development of the mod, hell rocket hasn't even posted on his own forums here in over a week. He did lock a thread for an "hour" which turned out to be still locked a week later.

Also, I dont now if anyone has noticed, but didnt the new patch get delayed?

The DayZ standalone won't be coming out tomorrow. It will take a shit ton of time, especially if they have to design their own engine.

That being said, IIRC rocket said that the DayZ mod will still be a mod, and then the standalone will run parallel. This does not mean that it is dead. Everyone needs to stop posting "omg dayz is dead" threads.

Your an ass.

Excuse me, but fuck standalone

Thank you guys soooo much for your valuable contributions to this thread...

This mod won't be dead, because as far as I know, he's also using this mod to collect data to improve upon the stand alone version. So bugs that we continue to find here, will be able to be squashed in stand alone. At least that's how I understood it...

They don;t have to design a new engine from teh ground up. They already stated they standalone is based on the Arma3 engine, but will be a seperate game (i.e. standalone) from Arma3. Since Arma3 is coming soon, DayZ is sure to follow just as quickly.

I for 1 agree with the OP, and I also think that ATM DayZ is taking a hit. Sure 4000 new players a day.... whatever. How many continue playing once they get hacked over and over in their first few days... how many are still playing when they run into the dread graphic glitch over and over... how many continue to play when they pick up something from the ground and they lose their weapon or ammo or stuff disappears in their backpack.

Just because people DL the game does NOT mean 1,000,000 people are actively playing the Mod. I guaranty many have left without a word, and the few who leave a notice to why they are leaving a game(sorry, ALPHA MOD MORON) they wanted to work get flamed to hell and back.

read they are going to be updating the mod along with the standalone so I don't think it is dead or dieing.

Translation - Hey guys, I don't have enough time to stare at the forums all day and I have no clue how to use the awesome feature that is "search" to find more about my topic, so instead I'll just further the stereotype of today's generation of "self entitled gotta have it now" folks and make a new thread on this.

Did I get it right?

Your such a fucking retard troll. I obviously searched, i went through like a month of rockets posts, and yet havent seen anything official about why the patch was delayed. And the search function. Yeah like that does any good.

Lets try...

No results found for 'patch delay'.

No results found for '1.7.2.5'.

Yeah stuff it, the search function is broke.

But thats the first line out of every fucking trolls mouth. "EHALKD UZE TEH SEARCH" Cause your to stupid to contribute to the actual conversation or provide any useful information.

Oh and yes, lets worry about stereotypes when you come off as the foul mouthed little brat in your post.

"You might have heard of it, it's called f**k your mama."

Yep real classy,
