Cvm 13 Posted August 6, 2012 I have seen many threads debating about the need TO have, or the need to NOT have bandit skins. It seems that there is a general idea that people should live with their consequences, whether they be good or evil.Instead of introducing a bandit skin, why not make it so you can not change you name so regularly. Therefore if Mr. Smith, becomes a spawn camping sniper, then, after a while, people will begin to learn that Mr. Smith is a bandit. Even if he dies and respawns he still has to live with the reputation that his name carries. He will generally be trusted less by people, and he might otherwise be killed by "good guy" survivors, just because they know what he'll eventually do once he gets equipped again. For this to work, you would need to be able to see the players name about their heads. This idea is not perfect, but I think it is a better idea then a permanent skin.

Seeing some guy in a ghillie suit because he has his title, name, and guild name over his head?
Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted August 6, 2012 Having name tags enabled ruins this idea. It completely destroys the effect of finding decent cover or using a ghillie suit and the distance marker is a joke.
Zoop 343 Posted August 6, 2012 Most of us have nameplates removed for a reason. It breaks immersion and all it does is cause senseless vendettas.

It could be like BF3, where you can "spot" other players, if you are playing in a team. Once spotted, for about 10 seconds, you can see the players name over their head. The name would not "automatically" appear. Edited August 6, 2012 by Cvm
sausagekingofchicago 4711 Posted August 6, 2012 (edited) I don't play on servers with name tags. I also don't want to see an immersion breaking sign above peoples heads. Skins are better.Edit: oops. Still, I don't like this idea. How am I to keep track of a million different players and their actions? Edited August 6, 2012 by SausageKingofChicago

Cvm 13 Posted August 6, 2012 Why not give the option to choose bandit or non bandit when you respawn inNobody would choose bandit. Most of them want to remain "unknown" so they can kill and deceive other players. That is also why I do not like the skin idea. You should not know what kind of person you are dealing with up front.
