Found file on server: /Tmp2302/players/PLAYERNAME/face.paa

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I was just browsing through the logs on my server and noticed a file had been created today in the folder /Tmp2302/players/{PLAYERNAME}/face.paa

(Where {PLAYERNAME} is the name of the player on my server).

I understand this is a custom skin of some sort, but am wondering how it came to be on my server. Is this an expected, legitimate occurrence on servers?

Thank you for the help.

I imagine the server downloads the file from the client then distributes it to the other clients connected to the server.

...Also, was this possibly part of the new beta patch 95660? I had this installed on my server for a brief time this morning, until I realized it was crashing the server, and rolled back.

Yeah, that would make sense... Are custom skins allowed? I've never really researched the topic.

Hello there

Just to let you know custom skins are a normal occurrence in Arma2/DAYZ.

Somewhere in your server config you can linit the file size.

Set to >0kb to stop any custom face.

It's nothing to worry about.

If you, (or anyone) should happen to know where this variable is set and could point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it... So far I haven't been able to come across it.

Thanks again.
