Saving Cars? And general Server question

Recommended Posts

Hello :)

I've just finished re-installing Arma2 combined ops on my system to be able to play DayZ and I am SOOO excited!

Anyway, just a quick question really, I've heard people mentioning that they have to save the positions of their vehicles to have them stay there, how is this done, or is it automatic?

Also, is DayZ like MMO's with the servers, as in one save on a server is carried onto the next one (with all your equipment) or is each server individual saves?

Thanks and I shall be hiding someone near you to stop you from stealing my beans xD

Using the scroll wheel you can elect to save your car or tent. Making sure the server has its contents and location of the save.

Edit: Sorry, I just realized I missed an important question. The car/tent is server specific, so just incase you have some precious beans to store in that bad boy be sure to have the server name/info on hand somewhere.

It saves the vehicle until next server restart, it doesn't save the position but the gear. I'd put some junk in there first, save it wait till the server restarts then put your gear in it.

And yes your stuff saves through servers

An additional question which goes hand in hand with the ops. Let's say I find a bus and save it, what was the purpose in doing this? You can't store anything in the bus* and as far as I know it's still visible to anyone and everyone. I can only imagine this saves it to the server, but wasn't it already saved and on the server to begin with?

*At least I was never presented with that option
