tbotus 4 Posted August 6, 2012 Most Americans I've met are people who think they're the best, think that Europe is a poor <<country>>, think they were basically first with everything, such as going to space, that they won the Vietnam war and what not more. There are some exceptions, like you. You're one of the few who doesn't make your civilization look like kids (On the internet), have my beans! :DEurope has fat stupid people too. However, America is the best so we have way more. I don't know if this is supposed to be sarcasm, but the way I translate your post you are a prime example of what I was talking about.
Ankhenaten 111 Posted August 6, 2012 (edited) A modern GPS will convert between units and coordinates depending on your position and settings. And if you phoned the RAC, Green Flag or AA until recently, they weren't interested in coordinates. Anyway was interesting that the British have it the other way around. Personally I don't care as long as I know. Edited August 6, 2012 by Ankhenaten

Haliber 15 Posted August 6, 2012 However - if you play with ALL AMERICAN HEROES. Surely you can read the co-ordinates wrong together and still be in the same place?
Alex87 (DayZ) 0 Posted August 6, 2012 Must have been Zombies. As I've never played on servers with nametags (and I'm guessing you only get it there) I can't say for sure, but I've read here on the forums that Z's are tagged as "Man".ok cheers for the reply. Jex =TE= (DayZ) 218 Posted August 6, 2012 Map grid coordinates are universal, along the corridor and up the stairs (Funny that's how I was taught it as well). GPS coordinates may differ however but how do u transpose that in game without causing confusion? Maybe they kept it simple, maybe there's differing models and ways GPS give coordinates. The US army, British Army (and i would suggest a great many more do) use map coords of along then up.Now as for who's the biggest asshole its most of you out there. You don't need to belong to a nation to be a collosal prick...you just have to be a prick.

Pretty sure this is universal in all military forces. Edited August 6, 2012 by Timmymachine109
Teiwaz 45 Posted August 6, 2012 LOL, epic, gotta bookmark this for similar discussions :PSure is, but why hell the fuck do the Brits have to measure liquids in litres and milk (I think it is milk) in gallons (or whatever it is)?! That still doesn't make any sense to me :D
The_Albatros 72 Posted August 6, 2012 (edited) You always read Coordinates X, YSo Latitude, then Longitude.pic relatedYou would read the GPS as 021,030I'm pretty sure it's X,Y order when open over the map as well. Gustav Mahler 40 Posted August 6, 2012 American chiming in here, our military does in fact use a grid system. And it is in fact oriented by horizontal coordinate first, vertical coordinate second. Of course anyone who's passed a basic algebra class (excludes 75% of the population) would know this.

orion 54 Posted August 6, 2012 I knew I would get a chuckle out of this thread when I came home from work :) Thanks again to Blindingsun for correcting my assumption about the grid coordinates being Lat/Long Vs. Easterly/Northerly.
SubEclipse 22 Posted August 8, 2012 Wait a minute... this whole time I've been sitting here using my sextant. You're saying there are maps and GPS in this game? No one tells me anything!

That still doesn't make any sense to me :DWait a sec we Brits use the same measuring as the Yanks and I thought most of Europe used Fahrenheit (we use Celsius). We used to have pints, now litres and no doubt we'll lose miles at some point. It does make a country dumber if u make their maths easier though ;)

We phased out poo flinging for offensive hand signals long ago.
