My advice would be to look for "daytime" servers with something like four people on, sometimes the time is reported incorrectly and people log off right away. I think the times in DayZ Commander are just reported from the server name or something, because the time zone in the server name often does not match the time on the server.

I can confirm that the times are misleading, they seemed a lot more accurate before, not sure what changed. I just read the DayZ Commander FAQ:

Where does the server time come from?

DayZ servers don't provide this information directly, but server admins often place the current UTC offset in the server name.

DayZ Commander converts this to a more readible time and allows you to filter and sort on it.

I've joined 5 servers now and none have been night....

I hope they fix this soon. Not a huge deal though. Commander is still infinitely better than six launcher.

I don't think anything can really be done other than server admins being vigilant about restarts and making sure the server time and server name match. My advice would be to favourite servers with the right time and little or no lag (as well as no/rare 'hacking' events), gradually removing ones that don't maintain their servers as well as others, and eventually you'll build up a collection of clean and reliable servers.

Seeing that DayZ Commander showed the times of the server was the reason I downloaded it. I was disappointed when none of the times were accurate. I still use it though because Six Launcher is horrible, I just wish the times were accurate.

Me and my entire squad recently raided a camp with enough nvg's and ghillies for all of us (items were not duped because they had alot of high tier guns like SD m4 that they only had one of) point is now i have nvg's a ghillie and an L85 AWS but stuck in daylight, but when i do get night time it's target practice on anyone i come across...
