am i missing something?

Recommended Posts

I've logged more than 250 hours in dayz (250 would be a very conservative estimate), and i've come across about every loot possible. However, some things obviously are extremely rare. I've made back and forth travels from 1 airfield to the other countless times and ive raided them, along with barracks, etc, a few hundred times. I found:

- 2 sniper rifles, total.

- 1 pair of NVGs

- 1 entrenching tool

You see the trend, these things are extremely rare to come across. however, it seems EVERYONE HAS THEM. Every youtube video you'll watch, the guys have squads of people equipped with FN FALs, DMRs, everyone has NVGs. Am I doing something wrong? It seems sniper rifles grow on trees, judging by how many there are in cherno/elektro. What's up with everyone getting that shit seemingly instantly?

I've owned maybe 5 Entrenching tools, and played far less then you. And I dont even know what they are used for.

Not sure man. Most of that stuff you mentioned I have only obtain via a tent discovery or killing another player. I personally have yet to find a 50 Cal or NVG at a loot spawn.

Those are people who have played even longer than you or were extremely lucky. That, or like you, they finally found one of them and stayed alive. I had myself a pair of NVGs on the my second day of playing and was able to keep them for weeks. It's just how it goes.

It's insanely easy to dupe, i actually figured duping out by myself and hate it; it just f***ing ruined the game, So me and my squad decided we won't do it even though we managed to get caught taking nvg's out of a tent on a server restart and apon coming back they had duped...

what my guesses are.:

A: they are server hopping so they can loot hundreds of ties the airfield per day.

B: they either own a server and just make a server restart so everything spawns fresh.

no matter what having that many NVGs and sniper rifles are not from legit gameplay.

It´s pretty easy. Im an so called "old" player. When i started with dayz, there where only a handfull of servers. Never found a pair of NVG´s in a Barrack or any other good stuff. Only AKM´s and stuff but, the crash sites spawn a shitload of stuff and even if they dont spawn everything you need, there will be people around, carrying the stuff you need/want.

Its somewhat simple.

The clans are often big, and most of the people in them probably play very often and could easily server hop. And also, many, many, many, many, clans and people duplicate items in tents.

Sometimes people also find hackers/exploiters camps and steal everything they have.

That reminds me of something a friend said to me the other day..

"It's like the people who record/stream always find the better loot... Why...?"

Love it.

I think it's easier to get rare stuff at Helicopter crashes, because when you're at the air field you have like a .11% chance of finding a dmr, m24 , nv goggles ect.

I haven't logged nearly the amount of time you have but I've been playing regularly for about a month now. In that time i found one M-24, one CZ550, and about 3 M-107s. I've been lucky with crash sites, finding several bizon smg's and FN FAL rifles as well. I was even lucky enough to find an L85a2 AWS the other night and still have it. I suppose its all about luck, and as I said I have been very fortunate with the helicopter crashes.

You have to remember that with high end loot its unlikely that player will die to zombies if he managed to get that loot in the first place, so once he dies his loot just gets passed on to whoever killed him. It just keeps perpetuating, the only time his loot will go to waste is if someone who already has those rare items kills him. I'm just speculating here, but i'm guessing the former happens more than the latter so the items add up over time.

That and hackers/duplicating cheaters.

You dont get the loot at high traffic areas like the airfield. Mostly the real good loot wont last long on the ground itself.

1) Best way to get loot is joining empty servers at night times, spawn the loot in the area yourself(by walking by) and hope for something good. And remember, loot does not spawn right beside you.

2) If you dont want to jump from servers like that there are heli crash sites. Still, you wont find anything good on a server with 30+ ppl on it since the place is already looted.

3) You can also pick up every loot pile in a single barrack at the nw airfield and drop it outside. Walk away and wait for a new spawn, thats the best way if you dont want to jump on several servers.

4) find a full equipped guy, kill him and take his stuff.

Walking around to places where somebody else has been before will get you nothing.

Also, entranching tools do not spawn in military places, its industrial loot.

They don't grow in trees, they grow in tents.

Because of duping for one thing.

Also, because items transfer from person to person while new items spawn, so eventually there is an overload of those items because there are very few of these items actually lost. The number of those items in circulation will just keep rising.
