You should ask your parents for 12 cents.

You should get a job.

You should have a job if your 17+, assuming you are. This is a mature game.

Unemployment jumped from 4.6% in 2007 to 10% or so in 2010 for the United States. Yes, it's down to 8.3% now but that's still high.

I mean it's not like those 10% tried hard to get a job or anything.... they'd rather be jobless, right?

It is difficult to both acquire and maintain a job in most countries in this day and age. The majority of Americans leaving high school can't afford to go to college, and a large percentage of college graduates still can't find jobs, even with their degrees.

It's rough. Anybody saying otherwise doesn't know what they're talking about - or, more likely, is too young to understand exactly how hard it is right now.

quoted for truth.

I work in a dead end convenience store, been looking for better work for the last couple years, and it's not easy.. I just had an interview with a decent company, and they have really high standards now because they know that they have the upper hand. It can be said that in that situation they have always had the upper hand, but nowadays it's easier for them to be very picky with their hiring practices...

But yeah, the guy who was laughing that off is either young or born with a silver spoon so to speak.

I completely understand.

Until recently, I worked at a multi-national vehicular emissions control factory pulling in around $400 a week. I lost my job - as you said - because of more highly trained employees being put in my place during a large lay-off at the factory. Because I had only been working there a month (and despite the fact that everybody I knew liked me well enough, and I worked my ass off, a round 10-12 hours a night, five or six days a week), and a hired-on employee was going to be laid off, it was much easier to fire me and put somebody with more experience in my place.

That's just how the world works now.

Must add insult to injury.

And then out of nowhere,... SPIDERMAN!

(No, this is not a Spiderman thread, OP is actually legit and I feel bad for him. However, this man's response above is so retarded that it warrants a Spiderman intervention Session.)
