Few noob questions, please help :)

Recommended Posts

Must be missing something, food gives me a bit of blood it seems, but not enough to get up to full again, not sure what items to use or what process I'm supposed to be doing. Any help is appreciated .

Is there a way to stash items somewhere outside of my inventory? I have an Alice Pack and recently raided one of the big towns, got a lot of survival stuff like blood packs and food, water bottles etc, but my packs are completely full. I've heard people making Camps before, but how does that work with the servers, leaving and joining etc, and I don't know how often servers restart, any of those mechanics... Do I pretty much keep what I have on me and that's it, and is the Alice pack the biggest?

Also with vehicles, If I'm in a vehicle and leave the game, do I keep the vehicle when I join another server?

You're going to need to find a Blood Pack then have another player preform a Blood Transfusion, restores you to 12,000 Blood. Blood Packs can be found in Hospitals. Also Cooked Meat from animals grants 800 Blood per.

Lots* of canned food may also work

Killing animals for meat, then cooking it. Each cooked meat gives you 800 blood, whereas canned food is only 200.

You'll need a means to kill animals, a knife, matches and wood.

And a lot of inventory space.

You can store things in tents and vehicles, but they are server specific, so you'll have to play on only that server, or at least log into it first to grab your stuff. It's kinda a toss up on what happens on patches and reset, it's intended to save your stuff regardless, so long as you save the tent/vehicle, but tents are buggy, so don't rage when you come back and all your stuff is gone.

Also to that effect, they can be looted by other players who happen upon them, so don't set up your tent in the middle of Cherno, find a low-no traffic place in the forest. People may still find it, but that's how the game goes. My current gear I got by stumbling upon a clan camp, so I'm decked out Gillie suit and all.

Depends on the server for restart times. A lot do it just to keep it 24/7 daylight. You'll usually see a 10 min warning in the chat.

ALICE is the 2nd biggest. The Coyote Backpack is the largest with 24 slots but they're rare, and only found in military spawns. If you aren't trying to carry around 2 rifles, ALICE should suit your needs just fine.

Tents are supposed to allow us to have a place to put things. However, they are the buggiest thing ever. Unless you want to throw the items away, I would not use them.

If others had better luck i would like to know.

So you could theoretically find a private server that you could have your Tent setup on, or a Vehicle simply for it's backpack slots? Log in there to store things, and then go to other servers to play/loot?

Also you say Tents are glitchy, how are Vehicles? I saw that certain vehicles have storage space in them, so if they're less glitchy, could they be used to store things more securely?

If that works I'd love to find a private server to join and just use a vehicle as a storage facility, a lot less of a chance of having it broken into on a smaller private server right?

Any help or opinions on this type of thing is really appreciated.

If you don't know if you click on the Alice Pack in your inventory and click "Open Bag" you can store stuff in there by dropping it in the bag, you might know this. Also from personal experience getting a server to store stuff in would be a waste of money, and finding a server and putting stuff in a tent can be extremely glitchy.

yeah it took me awhile to realize the open bag thing. I picked up a bigger bag and noticed that I hadn't actually increased my storage space..

And yeah I wasn't thinking of buying a server just to store stuff, but more trying to find a server that has a password, like a community server or something.. And if I save a vehicle is it any less glitchy than saving a tent?

Hey Hysterics, I read through your posts. The absolute most helpful thing I think anyone could tell you at this point is to read this right here:

http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/10051-index-of-helpful-threads/

It's the first sticky thread you saw at the top.

I read through this after my first couple of playthroughs, and answered a ton of questions I didn't even know I had.

I will also confirm that the tents are basically flushing your items down a toilet at this point. Still I find myself risking life and limb to get them again and again. Glutton for punishment I suppose I am.

Hmm I didn't realize server with passwords are against the rules.. I made a post asking about one and it was deleted within 15 minutes. :o

I suppose you could store your stuff on a low pop/private server, but it's not in good taste. Intentional server hopping for supplies is one of the few strategies that is frowned upon in Day Z, right before alt +f4'ing in battle. It can also be very time consuming from loading times and walking times, since you would always have to walk back to where your vehicle or camp is back on the private.

Dunno about vehicle storage, haven't found one yet personally.
