Hackers have destroyed this game

Recommended Posts

After playing for almost 2 months, I am done for now. Hackers have completely destroyed this game. My friends and I spent about 8 hours today trying to play, and we were able to enjoy roughly 1 hour of actual gaming. If we joined any server over 30 players there was a hacker ripping shit up.

You successfully made one of the most addictive, engrossing, and fun multiplayer games ever. Right now the only priority should be stopping hacks or the game is in serious trouble.

Good luck to all the legit players out there. Hopefully the cheating kiddies will get bored before too long.

Can't be dealt with until game goes standalone so it's going to be a couple of months atleastt, you should check out some of the locked servers, I've found most hackers simply skip over them as they can't be bothered registering.

Well, BattleEye could come charging in with some heroic fix, but seeing as the exact opposite happened earlier this week.... guh.

Couple months eh?

Yes, Septermber at the earliest according to Rocket but October/November is probably more likely.

Well, there is punkbuster, etc. It just requires the source code to work, which I don't think Bohemia is willing to compromise. After all, their engine is pretty unique. I think it can be done, but it wasn't really necessary for Arma, until recently. Scripting is becoming more and more an issue in the original game now, too. So, one way or another, Bohemia is bound to react.

Another problem is that servers are made by regular players. The person who controls the server can change a great deal of things. Hacking doesn't always have to be obvious like what we see in the game.

I'd much appreciate it, if they'd drop a few lines or talk about this and changes made during one of the next presentations for Arma 3.

Yeah, it's the good shit. It's called hope. Optimism.

It's not like they have to build a new engine or redo the game from scratch or anything, its going to use the Real Virtuality engine just like arma 2/ arma 3 are already using, so the current code can be ported in relatively easily, the whole issue at the moment is because it's an arma mod, the dayz team can't touch the engine code, that will change once it goes standalone, as even though the base engine is the same, they are separate and as such the dayz team can make changes to the engine themselves on the dayz engine instead of relying on BI to make changes to the arma emgine

Bullshit. Rocket works for BI. They could do something about it if they wanted to dedicate the time to it. They should be dedicated to it since I am fairly certain Arma 2 sold many more copies as a result of DayZ than it did as a result of itself. However, they probably don't care because DayZ is going standalone and Arma 2 will be obsolesced in a few months when Arma 3 comes out.

I am just annoyed, now. This is one of my favorite multiplayer games ever, but it is unplayable now if you want to PvP since you have to join a full server and that is the same thing that attracts the hackers. As much as I would like to spend my entire weekend poopsocking DayZ, I am going to have to find something else to do.

Fuck off SadPanda. There will be new threads about this issue until it isn't the defining issue of the game anymore. Just skip over them if you don't give a shit.

Guys, you realize they're still working on things like finishing the game, right? I'll say what I've said in another thread: We have the privilege to play Day Z right now. Rocket could have just as easily not released anything but videos and screenshots. Or even less than that. But no, he released a rough, unfinished alpha to us. He didn't need to. He's even giving us free updates as they come. How fucking awesome is that? How many games have any of you been involved with at the alpha stage?

Getting rid of the hacking is probably high on their extremely long list of things to do but, good god, understand that it takes time to create a game. It takes time to squash bugs. It takes time to add features. And it takes time to fix engine vulnerabilities.

True that hackers are a serious problem, and it proberly wont be fixed until the standalone version is released, but many players judge til game as it is right now and you can be sure that if BI studio/rocket fuck up the standalone on release and it turns out there is major hacking loopholes to be exploited, every gameing news site will be on it like vultures on a carcass and getting bad press on major gaming sites would affect the studio and game.

You will encounter them when you kill them trust me I have many times lol. The real reason Rocket should adress this is when it is released how do we know the hackers won't have control again, the best thing Rocket can do is squash the hacker bugs now and prove a point they won't tolerate that shit and permaban the IP address from these people. If I was going to purchase the stand alone copy and this alpha was never addressed about the hackers, how do we know they have a solution then showing us in alpha? One way to fix it is to release a patch that crushed the hackers and show them the door.
