Best sniper rifle?

Recommended Posts

Ok, so here's what I want to know.

Taking all things into consideration, (not just damage output) what's the best sniper rifle for teamplay?

M107 is shit compared to an AS50.

The best is probably the SVD. You can use NVG with it and it has a built in rangefinder, coupled with zeroing capability.

The DMR is a poor man's SVD. Both take 1-2 shots to the chest to kill.

The AS50 and M107 are both a 1 shot kill from any distance, but they can't use NVG. The M107 has A LOT of recoil, were the AS50 as little to no recoil.

TL:DR: SVD

EDIT: I forgot to mention the L85A2 AWS. It is not a sniper rifle but it has a scope with THERMAL OPTICS. If you're in a group, and you're playing spotter/sniper, the L85A2 is a GREAT weapon to spot enemies with thermal.

Many factors, some have higher damage, some have rapid fire, some have good mildots, SVD has camo to fit with ghillie suits

In the end, it is the one you are most comfortable with, be it CZ, DMR or AS50.

Depends on what you need bro :

- M107 will kill someone in one shot and is up to 1200m

- DMR is the only sniper being usable with NVGs so I find it very nice and sufficient

- SVD Camo is camo, really good to use with the ghillie, and also up to 1200m

Here's a comparison of all weapons : http://dayzdb.com/database/weapon-comparison

AS50 with nato rounds

they do around 140k damage instead of the m107s ammo which does 37k damage (m107 will not 1 hit kill if you hit in lower legs / feet. also nato rounds 10x better for anti vehicle). also AS50 nato rounds, travel faster and straighter.

with experience you can judge distance easily

day time its obviously #1

night time you can still use it since everything turns grey and can still spot stuff.

I have access to an AS50 or a DMR, but I don't like how loud the AS50 is, and I wish the DMR was zero-able.

If you have NVG you probably are better off getting used to the DMR. It's badass. SVD camo is the best for style. .50 caliber weapons are beast mode but night time play is going to be difficult!

DMR - It can Snipe, it can shoot fast, decent range, useable in close quarters, excellent damage, accurate, and most important the ammo is easy to come by.

Actually didnt they remove the ass50 and m107 or just the ass50?  I actually think the dmr is the best its mags are easier to get and they hold twice as much as svd rounds plus if you find m24 rounds you can convert them into dmr ammo.  the dmr is the ONLY sniper i world feel comftroble walking into a close to medium engadgement  and it has long range capablities

DMR hands down. You can find ranges with the mildots(so can most other snipers), it has NVG capabilities, if you aren't a good shot you can simply spam it and it's almost impossible not to hit your target. It's got adjustable zoom, and the ammo is fucking everywhere. The only way it could be more OP is if it had tweakable zeroing like the m24.

Edit: Had no idea this was a necro topic.

I find the DMR the best overall (ie, for simply getting kills at any cost), and the M24/M40A3 are the best for precision work.

Mk-17 Sniper SD for closer range, and the Mk-17 Sniper for longer range.

ITT:

DMRs vs SVDs

I like the fact that the DMR has a higher scope magnification

SVD lacks that, but makes up for it with the built-in range finder; which I have yet to use correctly

It's really your choice
