Askeladd 26 Posted August 2, 2012 I recommend a total wipe of everything once the tents gets fixed!Atm things or duplicating to left and right even if u dont want it to, and people are running around geared to the teeth from looting all thoose tents. The game needs a reset!
NightRipper 284 Posted August 2, 2012 I'm tempted to be an ass-whipe and correct your spelling. But I won't.Oh wait.
treshold82 28 Posted August 2, 2012 (edited) Yeah since ammunition could get fixed too that would be great idea to have full wipe so we could have a fresh start :) Edited August 2, 2012 by Caine
CamP 81 Posted August 2, 2012 I presume there will be a reset once DayZ comes out of Alpha and into Beta.

Element47 2480 Posted August 2, 2012 i have actually wondered that its not happening on a regular base. i am used to frequent database wipes from other alpha and beta tests..
Askeladd 26 Posted August 2, 2012 I presume there will be a reset once DayZ comes out of Alpha and into Beta.Well I dont think we can w8 that long. NVGs Gps and rangefinders are found on soooooo many corpses and in half of the tents i find:S
Dev (DayZ) 113 Posted August 2, 2012 While I wouldnt be against a wipe. It wont fix duping.Rockets post on page 4 on the pending 1.7.2.5 update:Eliminating duping in the mod is impossible.I can improve things better than they are, but this must be solved in the engine source. Askeladd 26 Posted August 2, 2012 Well the problem aint the duplicating itself, Coz i Can choose not to. But atm the tents are duplicating by themself....And that is problem and its due to that problem im saying "RESET EVERYTHING":)
dra6o0n 15 Posted August 2, 2012 (edited) Bohemia don't give a damn about Arma II, when they are close to releasing Arma III.I mean, why bother putting $20~50 dollar an hour programmer to debug and fix it when they can push for full funding on the updated Arma III engine?Yeah in the corporate world, programmers are EXPENSIVE. Tarkastio 38 Posted August 2, 2012 (edited) This just sounds like a bad idea. Reset data, and after not too much time we have the same problem. Temporary fix to a permanant problem. So, unless you want to basically wipe everyone`s hard earned (or otherwise) gear and weaponry at regular time periods, which would no doubt lose players and generally just cause a lot of sadness, find a permanant solution that does not involve making players repeatedly lose their work. TheSwede 11 Posted August 2, 2012 Rockets post on page 4 on the pending 1.7.2.5 update:Eliminating duping in the mod is impossible.I can improve things better than they are, but this must be solved in the engine source.Bohemia don't give a damn about Arma II, when they are close to releasing Arma III.Arma III is practically the same game as Arma II. If Rocket doesn't abandon the RV3 / RV4 engine now and start working on his standalone using a GOOD engine, DayZ is sure to fail. (read: RV engine is awful.) Food 309 Posted August 2, 2012 Although It would take absolutely forever to do, the only possible way to stop it would to be adding in a unique item ID system like TF2 and remove all duplicates, and with the amount of constantly spawning items and the amount of data to be stored it's just pointless to even try. KarinjaNinja 80 Posted August 2, 2012 Although I would like a reset (even though I currently have everything from m107/m4a1sd/coyote/nvg/rangefinder/gps) I don't think it is going to fix the main problem. There will still be hackers that are spawning weapon crates and storing the weapons in tents. And let's be honest how many times have we accidentally seen someone die and accidentally dupe items or put on a camo and accidentally dupe an item. There are probably so many ways to dupe... NVG's, range finder, M107, the ammo I need, ect.I think a full server wipe would make it more interesting again.

logan23 118 Posted August 2, 2012 The only way to test the loot spawns and actually player behavior is to do Wipes ever few Updates. If you don't there is a good chance of bugs.
Quaby 93 Posted August 3, 2012 The only way to test the loot spawns and actually player behavior is to do Wipes ever few Updates. If you don't there is a good chance of bugs. It's pointless to reset frequently testing wise since the updates really aren't super game changing. I.e. the last update added a bear trap. Is it necessary to reset my gear to test how this one item affects how I behave? No. Is it necessary to reset to see how I behave with no respawn button? No.
