CerebralZombie (DayZ)

Light source suggestion (For night)

Recommended Posts

So I read a thread about a torch idea and though maybe another good light source in a zombie apocalypse would be either a lantern which would need matches to ignite, or a miners helmet. The helmet would be much better then the G17 while running as it would have less bobbing to it, and the lantern would have a wider radius without the colour of chems or flares. I know there's night vision, but as I mentioned some players prefer normal colours rather then green, blue, red... Also in real life night vision would be pretty scarce.

Any ways, this is just a mini suggestion and I could care less if the added it. I even could care less if they changed DayZ at all except for bugs, ect, ect.

Thanks for your time,

remmington with a flashlight was pretty much all anyone needed if they didn't have NVG, however... it being 2 shots a kill now, its quite lame....

and if you never played with that weapon in the past, you really missed out imho.

I don't think everyone in the game should be able to get an easy light source. I think the balance of light, light brightness, and rarity of light sources is where it needs to be.

Yeah I wouldn't mind it being rare. As a lot of us know, players will disconnect from a server that are pitch black. Maybe just mix the items I have mentioned into the amount of chems and flares? There really is to many flare and chem sticks laying around, when in real life I think you'd find more flash lights if anything.

Could be as simple as right clicking on a box of matches and click Light Match. Very faint glow, suitable when searching houses...

Or even add lighters. There would definitely be more lighters then matches in the world. Wouldn't be able to use outdoors in the wind, but yes indoors.

Decent idea .....night time is pretty rough in dayz without nvg especially pitch black so anything that improves it then +1

i kind of like flares and chemlights though just torches suck so hard ,and why is there no flare gun ? i dont like lighting up where i am maybe i want to see whats over there >>>>>>>

also improve the animation on throwing flares ..seriously it takes like 20 seconds to drop a flare sometimes

heres a idea

combine a weapon with a flashlight and duct tape and you can attach a flashlight to most weapons (except for sidearms and some assult rifles)

or allow a way to, during the night, restore power to a city so that people can see via the shreet lights or window lighting

they would be a HECK of alot better then throwing a flare or chemlight while, 200 meters away, a bandit with a sniper rifle is looking for pot shots...

the ability to restore power to a city for a certain amount of time as noted above i like ^^^

but ofc then the generator or w/e it is becomes the snipers fav hangout ...unless there is multiple based around the city and maybe just providing dim lights or fickering random streetlights etc

how about just sticks... and you douse them with fuel at a gas station, then with matches you can light a torch.

side question. if british folks call flashlights torches, what do they call torches? actually curious.

We call them both torches :) It's never really caused a problem because 'torches' aren't very common these days ;)

Yes I'd love a flare gun to shoot one up in the sky as it slowly floats to the ground, lighting the whole area.

Still I want to be able to run and see with light. With the flash light on a gun idea, the gun points downward when running and makes it pitch black still.

Haha! I'd love the ability to create a trail of gas and light it up! Or even a building, and maybe around a building with someone inside it!

Rocket should fix the bicycle headlight (make it work due to the dynamo) and add some blinking LED headtorch!! :)
