Can't collect meat- Am I doing it wrong?

I've been trying to collect meat from all sorts of animals (mostly, sheep / chickens seem to be all I find), and although I can gut them, I can't collect any raw meat.

I kill the animal, use the knife to gut, but the body never gives me any further actions beyond 'hide' and 'study'. Looking at the gear screen, I can't find any options to use the hunting knife to collect meat, either.

So... How exactly do you get meat from the carcass? I have the feeling I've missed something huge.

Looks like a server Problem, try a other server and try to cut a cow or something, have the problems serveral times, too.

Never had this problem before, but my friend told me that he had this once, so he dropped his knife and took it back, then he was able to gut it and take the meat.

It's a new bug that came with a recent patch.

Some you can still take the meat from, some you can if you keep trying for several minutes, some you can't.

Definitely key. The animal may vanish before you can pick up the meat if you do not go into your gear when you first see the gear icon pop up.

This is a known issue. but there is 1 tip to use im my experience.

If the animal is moving, you will get meat. if it is just standing there, static, with no animation. 9/10 it wont give off any meat.

Well, at least it is a known issue.

And as far as gear screen- I'm not even seeing that option when I'm over the carcass. Just hide / study, right after I kill it and gut it.

However, swapping to a different server seems to have fixed it.

I've had this happen to me a lot, it's a known bug. Try shuffling around a lot at different angles until the gear icon pops up. If it dosen't, you're probably just shit out of luck. :(

It'll eventually come up, try get scroll why gutting it and get the gear menu up.

go around the other side so you are looking at the spine of the animal instead of the underside/stomach. i was having trouble collecting as well but everytime i went around to the other side it worked right away for me. hope this works for you guys too.

You need to take time and find the spot where you can loot the animal, it is hard to find. There is meat on the animal, you just didn't find the correct location to loot it.

I hit this issue too but after a minute or so of trying different angles I finally got the "gear" option to take the meat.
