Could Day Z be a successful standalone game?

Recommended Posts

I'm afraid that threads don't get locked just because someone has a different opinion to you. This is how the adult world works. If you don't like the the subject matter, you are welcome to leave.

However, i don't agree with "Thestoryteller01". This game does not need a single player mode. There are plenty of good games out there already that provide that experience.

Player interaction is what makes this game interesting and i would like to see more tolls that enable us to group up easier and different goals for a group to accomplish.

As I said, I like dayz as it is now - a unique mod that allready secured it's place in modding history forever.

However when the OP asked "Could Day Z be a successful standalone game?" I assume he didnt mean "amongst the readers of this forums" but out in the cold world of publishers, shareholders and sales numbers.

And from that point of view, I seriously doubt, that any FPS can be sucessfull while only offering a fraction of the content any other stand-alone game (or the average 9$ DLC) does.

So I might enjoy dayz for what it is. And everyone on this forums might not need a SP campaign - or even hate someone mentioning it. But it's not about us, it's about a global market. It's not about 500k fans on facebook, its about millions of potential buyers.

To make the transission from cool mod to sucessful game, dayz needs a LOT more content than just MP survivial on 40-player-slot servers.
