Fooz (DayZ) 46 Posted July 31, 2012 I don't think you can, you can use SD ammo in a non-silenced gun though I think

Swineflew 480 Posted July 31, 2012 That's a dumb mechanic.I've only used nonSD ammo in an SD gun. I'm surprised it doesnt work the other way around.

deathwizard77@gmail.com 28 Posted July 31, 2012 This is semi-real semi-balance mechanic. Fact is non-silenced ammo in a silenced gun would technically work but damage the gun/silencer. More than that the abundance of ammo would make silenced guns even stronger (which they are already very strong) then in the current state.
krtshv 362 Posted July 31, 2012 You can use SD ammo on non-SD guns (M4 variants, M16 variants, M9, PDW, etc), but you cannot use non-SD ammo on SD weapons (Can't use non-SD STANAG on M4A1 CCO SD or M9 mag on an M9SD).SD rounds are especially made to have lower muzzle velocity to be more silent, but game-wise, I think it's for balancing reasons. Swineflew 480 Posted July 31, 2012 (edited) Im fairly sure I was given the option to load my m9sd with an m9 mag.I never really payed attention to it.Edit: I've seen people shoot suppressed guns without using subsonic rounds. octopos 26 Posted July 31, 2012 (edited) Sd ammo have lower velocity, using a lower charger, so the shoot noise can be absorbed and dissipated by silencer. Most silencer works on regular ammo, but it don't work so well, or even work.A good idea will be using regular ammo in sd guns, but have noise different them regular guns. There are some ammo that can broke the silencer.I'm not a native english speaker, so the guns therms aren't right =] Edited July 31, 2012 by octopos
