So I've managed to find myself:

a Matchbox

a Hatchet

a Hunting Knife

a Compass

an Alice Pack

An M4 CCO SD

Glock 17 w/ flash light

a DMR

All I can think of is really just upgrading my weaponry (( Which doesnt seem like a must do thing )) and finding NVGs / a Ghillie suit before I set out for the crashed helis and start hunting people.

What do you guys think I should do?

Get a tent and set yourself up with some decent basics in there or a secondary loadout (day/night or Silent/loud) It makes it much less frustrating when you die. Also, go get yourself an ATV they're great fun. When you've done that, have a look at some of the groups or projects if you get bored. I became a Medic so that I had other things to do. It's good fun.

P.S - Don't think that being a Medic means hanging up your gun. It forces you into risky situations. You'll have to raid hospitals a lot for supplies and approach total strangers that need help so it spices things up a bit. Some of the best firefights I've had have been while trying to get to/protect a patient. Also, I met my new team mate while getting medical help.

I'd imagine as a medic you'd definitely not want to engage in combat, I've played the role several times. A medic is supposed to patch up the people that're fighting, losing a medic means you've crippled your squad severely. However, as a medic, you too engage in combat quite often. I imagine it's ofcourse different in Day z, but if your squad is large enough, the principles should remain the same.

I would never try to contact an armed stranger, I shoot on sight. 4 Murders so far, gotten off lucky and haven't had to fire many shots... One kill was with an axe, lulz!

LOL

Nice guns do not make you a good player hunter.

But all the best good luck rofl!

Sorry, I've only been playing Arma since the launch of Arma 1 among clans with regular Player versus Player scenarios on their dedicated server accompanied by series of mods like ACE and ACRE. Its not like I've had to prove myself to be able to take down people and master every gun in the game, including with the mod where you have to take into consideration wind/humid as well as the bullet drop.

Equipement may not make you a good player, however, you'll be at a severe disadvantage if you do not have the right equipement. You try fighting off a small squad of highly equipped players in total, pitch black darkness with no night vision capabilities.
